Boycott Grand Haven Michigan (Metro Detroit)
We are a grass roots organization asking for a complete and total BOYCOTT of GRAND HAVEN MICHIGAN, this spring, summer and beyond. We have received complaints from dozens of families about the proposed parking fees that Grand Haven is considering charging. We are also aware of business gouging with insane prices, especially during the months of June, July and August. We fully understand capitalism, and applaud that it is the best way of the world to do business. But the city of Grand Haven Michigan has priced the average "Joe Smith" blue collar family right out of it's town. There is a strong sentiment that they are trying to keep "THE TRASH" out of their town. Well, I AM blue collar and I make over $100,000 dollars a year. I can afford to go anywhere, as do many families who have contacted us. Over the last 10-15 years, Grand Haven has allowed it's business owners to charge $400, $450, $475 a night, OR MORE just to sleep at their hotel, bed and breakfast or lodge. They are indeed, trying to keep certain "TYPES" of people out of their city. It's obvious. And we are aware that "supply and demand" is what drives a good, healthy economy, and it is the core principle of capitalism, but the city of Grand Haven has become GREEDY and there are undertones of racism. We realize that there is only a small 3 month window of opportune optimal weather, and that businesses need to try to make as much as they can, when they can, but the prices and attitudes of Grand Haven businesses is beyond the scope of even being reasonable. We also understand that if you don't like something, don't go there, or don't give your money to that particular city, town or product that you disagree with. This isn't about money as much as it's about principle. We are calling for a 100% boycott of the city of Grand Haven Michigan, based on principle. The city is now exploring whether or not to CHARGE for parking! They have become BEYOND GREEDY IN GRAND HAVEN MICHIGAN!
For what many of their hotels and beds and breakfast inns are charging, you can fly and stay at all inclusive places in Florida, The Bahamas, Jamaica and The Dominican Republic! You can also travel on an ALL INCLUSIVE CRUISE for 5 to 7 days for UNDER what many Grand Haven hotels are charging!
WE ARE ASKING THAT ALL MICHIGANDERS BOYCOTT THE CITY OF GRAND HAVEN!

That Facebook site is full of crap. On one hand they complain about being overcharged because they are being considered riff raff and racially profiled then on the other hand they laud the workings of capitalism. You can't have it both ways. Has anyone been turned away because of racism? If so then file the appropriate complaint. If not, then take your business somewhere else. I suppose Mackinac Island would also be in the same category as Grand Haven. The Grand Hotel can cost over a $1,000 per night and  patrons are required to dress up when eating in the main dining room. So is the Grand Hotel   trying to keep the riff raff out or practicing Mackinac Island racism. There are plenty of places to stay on and near Lake Michigan. No one is required to visit or stay in Grand Haven.
