Michigan police officer faces child porn charges!

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (AP) — A police officer in suburban Detroit is accused of using computer to access child pornography.

Farmington Hill Police Chief Chuck Nebus sent out a news release Sunday saying 48-year-old Matthew Parsons has been suspended without pay. He was arraigned Saturday on five counts of using a computer in the commission of a crime and eight charges of sex offense-other.

He was being held Sunday in the Oakland County Jail on $300,000. Records do not indicate he has hired an attorney.

Nebus said Parsons, a 20-year veteran of the department, was charged following an investigation by the attorney general’s office after the Crimes Against Children Task Force served a search warrant on Wednesday and interviewed Parsons. Parsons was then placed on administrative leave.

Nebus described the charges as “shocking and devastating.”

A Grand Traverse County deputy is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.

Court documents say the two sent nude pictures to each other and had a graphic conversation while the deputy was on the job.

John Scheiding is charged with three counts of having and distributing child porn, one count of using a computer to commit a crime and one count of willful neglect of duty.

He has been placed on paid leave.

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to Deputy Scheiding’s home on April 27 for a welfare check.

They aren’t saying at this time what the call was about, but when they arrived there was evidence of possible criminal activity.

Court documents say an iPad was later turned over to the Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Office after Deputy Scheiding’s wife found sexual text messages and nude photos he exchanged with a teenage girl.

Court documents also show the conversation happened while he was working.

The sheriff’s office says they are still waiting to read the police report to make further decisions on his paid leave status.

“It's highly unfortunate that we have to investigate something like this. We'll see what the investigation shows. Again, I have not yet read the report from Michigan State Police. I've heard updates periodically, but I have not read the report and have not seen all the details surrounding the charges," says Undersheriff Nathan Alger.

Scheiding is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning.

He is being held at the Leelanau County Jail.

EVANSTON, Ill. — A Northwestern University police lieutenant is facing child pornography charges after he allegedly took inappropriate photos of a young girl and sent sexual messages to her on social media.

According to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Ronald Godby, 53, has been charged with child pornography following an investigation by the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Mount Prospect Police Department.

Prosecutors say Godby, who in addition to his work as a police officer also has a home photography business, is accused of using his relationship with a family friend to take photos of a 13-year-old girl. Some of the photos were “sexual in nature,” according to the state’s attorney’s office.

According to prosecutors, Godby also began communicating with the girl on Facebook and other social media platforms and sent her sexually suggestive photos.

Prosecutors said the alleged victim told classmates of the communication and they reported it to a teacher, who contacted law enforcement.

Godby’s bond was set at $100,000. His next court date is Feb. 26.

LIVE OAK, Fla. -- It's a somber day at the Live Oak Police Station after Chief Buddy Williams assists in an FBI investigation. It lead to an arrest of one of his department's own.

"I've went from being devastated to angry as hell to just disbelief," Chief Williams said.

The FBI alleges Sergeant Kyle Kirby viewed images and videos of children performing sexual acts.

He's a 12 year veteran of LOPD. Locals are shocked.

"It's just hard to explain to your kids. It's hard to explain even to other adults," Thomas Willingham said.

Chief Williams found out about the investigation last week.
He suspended Kirby after the FBI searched his home, Thursday.

Williams says he's surprised by Kirby's reaction when he was arrested Wednesday morning.

"[He was] kind of unemotional. Almost in a blank state," Chief Williams said.

Chief Williams says his department is deeply involved and invested in the Live Oak community. He says he's hoping that this one incident won't break the public's trust.

"I hope this is something that will get past us as soon as we can because as I've said we love this town we love this community and we got great men and women who work here."

Kirby was fired from the force following his arrest. He has two children.

Kirby was arraigned in a Jacksonville federal court. If convicted he faces five to ten years in prison. A bail hearing is set for Friday.

When Law Enforcement pulls you over or simply approaches you, they always want to treat you like you are the one who could harm them. But, in reality, we the people wonder if they are out to harm us. How can people trust police? We can call them all good, or we can call them all bad. How do we know? When cops do bad things there is no transparency or accountability. The blue wall, covering each others crimes, falsifying criminal lab results at a MSP lab, hiding officers files from public, investigating themselves, and making up lesser charges for the good of their own. Now, these cops doing porn and stalking with a police computer prove the theory of rogue police and, zero accountability. Even a retired State Police Officer has access to a police computer with no need to know, collecting data for his own personal use This illegally obtained information is then used to stalk, harass, intimidate, and falsify information upon others. They still have access to these super powers and use them to enact other police into bullying, intimidating, file false charges, or simply using the data to get their kicks. Where are the Feds that should be monitoring the police instead of harassing advocates who want change in transparency and accountability?

Thoughtful postings, John.  Sadly, there will always be bad cops.  Conversely, we are not guaranteed that there will always be good cops; totalitarian regimes throughout history shows us that evil governments breed and train evil police forces.

These stories all illustrate vile actions taken by vile individuals that happen to be cops.  But it also has the restorative and optimistic portrayal of other cops and public officials eventually holding those bad apples to account.  This latter class of public figures should be held in the highest regard, even as heroes, as they irrefutably are the good ones.
