Selective enforcement in CoL

earlier in the week photos were taken of the "Code Enforcer" taking down signs in the street's Right Of Way. I knew about this law because I was once former Mayor Scott's "sign guy". In those days it was a simple gentleman's agreement to not put signs in the grassy patch between sidewalk and street. NEVER  did anyone measure or check or remove any signs. Now suddenly the City has the money not only to hire someone to do this , but let them use a City owned car as well.

 

Now I don't know Mr. Rotta, but hope he wins because this seems to be ONLY aimed at him. Mr Rotta take your camera and go down the street on the  EAST side of Franklin School and you will see two Holman signs well into the Right of Way. Then after one block turn EAST onto Mitchell St. , cross Staffon and keep going EAST on Mitchell and there will be a Tykoski sign on the NORTH side of the street that is well into the Right Of Way.  Take photos and ask just WHY is only one side having the Code enforced.....?

Heck, Snide, I knew some of this already, including the Holman one that was at Sherman and Lawndale for four days until it recently disappeared.  Whoever claimed the City was fair when it came to "winning the game"?

Meanwhile, if you go out to Walgreen's you will notice them having flu shot signs littering the street right of way on US 10 and PM HWY, but the Ludington Code Enforcer slapped the Rite-Aid Pharmacy (which falls within the city limits) for having one sign well out of the street, but within 33 ft. of the center of Jackson Street. 

The City code is explicit about election signs and flu shot signs-- they are temporary signs and as long as they are on private property they can exist on the right of way without a problem.   The City's contention is that the CITY owns the right of way and this is just plain wrong for just about everyone.  The lot owner owns all the land to the center of the street.  They are trying to claim 33 ft. of your lot as their own, and they are making this an issue this election.

Good find and report Snide, thanks for the update. It should be obvious to anyone looking about the streets while downtown, that the Rotta signage is dwindling daily, even as we post more daily. They are intentionally disrupting and sabotaging ONE CERTAIN CANDIDATE over and over for the sake of pride and to throw the kitchen sink at him if need be to stop his successes. Shameful and I would contend totally illegal. Yet it  continues at the orders from on high, that of Shay and Henderson no doubt. So much wasted time to spend by these grown men with childlike minds, with so much to hide. Any other Whistleblowers are welcome to report.

I don't know much about election law but it appears that not only are they tampering with one candidates ability to get his message out, but they are also continuing a pattern of unfairness which is easy to prove and difficult for them to deny that began with the letter of tresspass.
