It seems our president isn't shy to be in front of the cameras... as long as there are not reporters on the other side of course (when was his last press conference and how many has he had compared to past presidents?).... today he appeared on the View. He of course appeared on The Tonight Show (he might want to lay off the Special Olympics jokes) awhile back as well. I don't mind so much the appearance on the Tonight Show... while its uncommon for a setting president to appear on basically any regular running TV show, appearing on a show like the Tonight Show would probably be a respectable place to appear if it was in the presidents interest to be on the show. The View on the other hand, I just don't find that to be a appropriate show for any president to be on. For one thing, the show often has political topics and its no secret that everyone except for one of the ladies on there is generally in support of the president so most of the questions are going to be 'safe'... it was nice that the lone conservative person there did make her presence known. And not to think i'm taking sides here as far as politics go, I don't think George Bush was right to appear on the Dr Phil show back in 2004 if I recall. I would just assume that our presidents stay off the TV unless giving a speech or answering some questions in front of the reporters.
I'm sure he fits in a little bit of work between TV appearances, days at the golf course and his various campaign stops (maybe someone should tell him he got the job though)
'Campaign' stops is the right word to use. Hasn't anyone told the all-knowing O that he isn't running in 2010. Yes, there are plenty of people running against what he represents, but he just goes on fluff shows to demonstrate what... that he's out of touch.
There's still an oil spill in the gulf and hurricanes coming soon, why isn't he helping develop a plan instead of chatting up his jobs record, which requires some big time statistical-doctoring to look anything but disastrous.
