In the continued quarrel between the Cole supporters and Fiers supporters about who has ran the more honorable and ethical campaign, there have been a lot of claims.  For the most part, I think most of these claims are personal, and viewpoint-driven.  But something that continues to bewilder me is the seemingly blatant personal attack that Kim Cole regularly does in a subtle manner in his "promise" ads:

This was clipped from Friday's COLDNews.  Sergeant Cole says:  "My promise to the people of Mason County:  I will restore pride, tradition and honor to the Sheriff's Office"  Emphasis added on the verb and abstract nouns of his promise.  Looking closer at the definitions of those terms:

restoreVerb:  1.Bring back; reinstate.   2.Return (someone or something) to a former condition, place, or position.

prideNoun: 1. A sense of one's own proper dignity or value; self-respect.

traditionNoun:  1. An inherited, established, or customary pattern of thought, action, or behavior.

honorNoun:  1.  High respect; esteem

To restore these three abstractions, therefore, he is effectively saying that the three have been lacking in the current administration.  That Jeff Fiers has ran a sheriff's office where pride, tradition, and honor have been lost somewhere along the way.  Three questions to Kim Cole or his supporters about Sheriff Fiers:

1.  When has Sheriff Fiers not been proud of the MCSO, and the part he plays in it?

2.  What positive traditions of the MCSO has Sheriff Fiers eliminated or ignored during his one term in office?

3.  When has Sheriff Fiers been anything but honorable, to his office or to his subordinates?

And then one last question:

4.  How specifically will Sergeant Cole restore these when he gets to office, thus fulfilling his promise?

The statement Kim Cole makes in his advertisement is negative and insulting, and shows that he may just restore pride in the office, if we consider the fifth definition of pride, which is generally considered one of the seven deadly sins:  "an excessively high opinion of oneself; conceit."

Yeah life goes on and God must have a better plan for Jeff.Things happen for a reason.I know that he is a wonderful man and I know that he will do great in whatever it is that he does next.He has earned the respect of just about everyone that I know here in Mason County. As for dragging people through the mudd that is not my style you have me all wrong. If you go back and read all of the comments made from the begining to the end you will see that all I did was to CONSTANTLY defend Jeff's honor from the rotton people that kept trying with all their might to rip him apart.I am not a person to spread lies or talk trash because I belive that when a person does that they make themselves look bad but I will DEFEND  the honor of a friend when people are talking trash, without blinking an eye.

Mason County Sheriff Jeff Fiers discussed the possibility of murder charges for Sean Phillips in the disappearance of Katherine “Baby Kate” Phillips in a NewsSynergy Broadcast radio interview that aired on Election Day.

In the interview, Fiers said murder charges might be filed by the end of November if not the end of the year.

Ludington Police Chief Mark Barnett said Fiers’ statements on murder charges were not true and he questioned the motive of releasing such information on the morning of the election.

Someone is not telling the truth. Is it Police Chief Mark Barnett or Sheriff Jeff Fiers?

Why would the Chief lie about this?  Its obvious who is, I mean it came out on the radio Tuesday morning.  Its just so sad that a person in his position would stoop so low, also how do you think those grandparents of that baby feel hearing that?  If it was true, it wouldn't be a radio ad, it would be headline news in the paper.

Do you think they could bring him up on charges for it? or maybe an ethical/moral thing? He should be held to a higher standard for this.

So...... what other things has he said through this whole campaign that were a tad bit well..... not true?

That's what I dislike about Libereals, they almost always "Dive into the water without knowing the depth", i.e., they easily jump to false conclusions right away. Get BOTH sides first please is all I say, NOT just the LDN's, (Ludington Daily Nuisance), I coin them. They "love" to take the side of the "good ole boys" first, and foremost!

First of all I am far far from a Liberal, second aquaman, share the other side, id love to hear the excuse.  First of all, the Sheriff doesn't get to pick and choose if they are charging someone for murder or not, that's up to the prosecutor, second of all why hasn't this been brought up until ELECTION MORNING that they are going to charge him for murder by the end of the month.  Also, why would the Chief say there isn't any truth to that?

I would like to give Fiers a chance to answer questions about this before forming a final opinion. He may be tired of defending himself now that the elections is over.

That's a fair and appropriate gesture Brian, I too would like to see the end result here before we all go overboard against the Sheriff. I too think he is tired of the campaign rhetoric and debate, but, he seems to have opened this new can of worms on himself, I only hope he can back up his assertions now by years end. Any new charges against that animal Phillips, are welcomed imho.

I agree as well, but he can't make that statement and then just go hide and say he is tired from his campaign.  If he wants to break news such as that, then he better be ready for questions.  That comes with the job....

as far as I know Cole is still working tired or not
