Will Someone take me & the kid Morel Hunting? seriously.
I have not had any morels in years. I was always pretty sucky at finding them even if I was surrounded by them.
We do get lucky enough to have wild blackberries grow near the edges of our yard and this year I trimmed them down so hopefully we get enough to get a pint or teo but that is all the wild food i can recognize.
I would like to take my daughter out to find some because I think it would be a really neat experience for her. Although there is no way she would eat them, i would. And I wouldn't know the poison ones from the eating ones. Back when we had a friend who knew how to find them years ago he would always get the most and never make enough for everyone to get there fill. he would make beefsteaks and puffballs too.
I think it would be a really fun mom/daughter thing to do. Get her out in the woods and nature.
I don't know where to look though.
I need an experienced guide.

I'm surprised that no one has stepped up to the plate Sheila. There aren't many Morels here in New Mexico, but if you want to see roadrunners, rattlesnakes and scorpions let me know. The desert cactus is starting to bloom too.
Seriously, maybe you can connect with Coco on the Morels.

Probably enjoying this fine weather, or busy on her new website. I know of an excellent place to hunt for morels (most years) near Custer, but am loathe to take anyone else there because I have grown to enjoy such fungus myself.
Of course, there is a place in Scottville I frequent, because someone just moved there two years ago, and hasn't caught me making off with sacks of morels yet. You just have to beware of the barking dogs and occasional goats ; )

Yes, busy, had to rake the yard so I could trim it. the dogs shredded and trees shedded so many sticks that I didn't want to wreck the lawn mower blades. never made it in my house till after dark.
