Ludington Police Department (LPD) Captain Mike Haveman (pictured below) and Mason County Prosecutor (MCP) Beth Hand have combined once again to try and slap criminal charges on Ludington's premiere gonzo journalist, XLFD, for doing absolutely nothing out of the ordinary, other than calling out their excesses.

You may recall that I, XLFD, was caught in the crossfire during Ludington's first deer cull on March 12, 2024, when federal culling agents opened fire nearly an hour before dusk at Cartier Park without anyone clearing out the area first.  While everyone was told that these crueler cullers would operate in the "middle of the night" and while western and some southern entrances to the park were fully open and without warning signage, I was in fear for his life in the middle of the smallish park, not knowing the extent of the "hunt".  After a Noble savage of LPD rescued me from the war zone, Captain Mike "My Caveman" Haveman wrote me out a letter of trespass from the public park my taxes pay for, indicating that I had somehow disturbed the peace.

Knowing that the letter of trespass had no legitimate authority over me, issued by government authority without any crime having been committed and without any form of due process available to appeal the arbitrary and capricious one-month punishment, I walked down the Cartier Park pathway three days later and... nothing happened.  Until September, when Prosecutor Hand (shortly after winning her primary election in a single-party race) arraigned me for trespassing and added an extra misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license, when  not only can I assure you that my license has never been suspended or revoked, but the local Secretary of State office can also do so.

Almost one year after that malicious prosecution of two non-crimes against me, Haveman and Hand are back at it again, and I found out about it totally by accident.  I was looking up 79th district court records, because that one-year-old case against me still hasn't been resolved, and what I found was a totally new case, filed against me on the August 27th, 2025, but I still haven't received anything from the courts about it in the mail or by personal service from Ludington's "finest".

Looking closer I found that I had an arraignment date set for 9-11 at 9:30 AM which I found interesting being that two dozen years earlier this time was after the planes hit the World Trade Center but before the Pentagon was hit.

And it stemmed from something that happened on August 6th, which was the day when the city council had held a special meeting to figure out how they would handle a column problem with the AndyS building that they put a stop work order on.  I attended the meeting and wrote about what happened, publishing it the next afternoon.  In relevant part of that article, I talked about what happened while the council met in closed session with an attorney they never formally hired to discuss some written opinion of his.

As seen in the court records, Haveman decided that my actions that day amounted to a city ordinance violation:

And when you look at the city code you find that in subsection four that I supposedly "Disturbed without lawful authority any peaceful and lawful assembly or meeting of persons."

And I can assure all that I was standing quiet, resolute, alone, and seemingly ready to prevent anybody else from disturbing the sanctity of the secret meeting going on beyond the door I was guarding like a stone sentinel.  Captain My Caveman was willing to assault me and arrest me simply for standing on pavement outside of a public city hall, before I deescalated the situation and complied with an unlawful order.  It was he who disturbed the meeting twice, first by ushering out the public from the lobby into the hot August weather and then by insinuating that I was eavesdropping outside a very solid door without any windows thereon, just because I knew it would likely trigger him further to do something even stupider than what he did last year.

Which it did, and now I am once again able to show how aggressive, repressive, and corrupt the LPD and Prosecutor Hand is by their persecution of the quietest peace-disturber and well-ordered disorder-conductor in the history of true crime.

Your experiences with law enforcement and government leave me confused with your politics. The party you support encourages this police lawlessness in many different forms. They want more unexperienced tyrants on the streets and behind the bench violating your rights. I believe you and many other people are victims or unfair policing. The people doing this to you are not Democrats. They are going by the MAGA playbook of stretching the rules they know won’t be challenged, or go anywhere when challenged. You are being targeted like other honest republicans who have shined a light on wrong doing, despite being on the same “team”. Republicans run this town and are allowing this treatment of you. Just remember that.

AG, I believe anyone that identifies completely with either of the two major parties is nutjob, a disciple, or both.  I have always most identified with the Libertarian philosophy which has its own limitations, and this has brought me into being more aligned with the Republican Party, as the Democrats have become more statist/socialist recently leading the energy in the GOP into the opposite direction, libertarian.  I must disagree with you on your local observations.

Mason County is a Republican stronghold when reviewed.  Other than 1 or 2 popular county commissioners, all county and township officials are in the GOP.  In the City of Ludington, however, Kamala Harris won the popular vote in Ludington this year, this explains why Democrat Nick Krieger wins easily here and why the city council's personnel and policies always trend Democratic, even when they run non-partisan.  The staunchest defenders of the LPD and their tyrannical acts are the biggest liberals on the council.

In the 20 or so years Beth Hand was assistant prosecutor in Oakland County, she served under Democrat PA's and followed their line, and so her recent chameleon change in Mason County to the GOP was just to win an election, she still wears the mantel of a corrupt Oakland County Democrat prosecutor.

While I would generally say my persecutions are not partisan, I don't see any MAGA politicians going after me, most love my anti-corruption pro-transparency philosophy, because it's what it's all about.  And though they are rare, and most won't come out of the MAGA closet, these are to a person (other than the lying hypocrite Kim Cole) some of the best people you'll find in local government.  Can you name a counterexample to this locally?
