Called me old fashioned but I believe that everyone should vote on the same day which for many years has been the first Tuesday in November. The only exception should be military.. given their type of job and the difficulties they sometimes have due to their job, they should be able to vote in a timely manner. Some states allow early voting, Ohio being one of them. I saw a clip of a supporter for everyone in Ohio being allowed to vote early, saying that restricting when people could vote is suppressing them which of course has become a popular word these days. For years people got out to vote just fine when they had one day to do it so I don't buy this suppression crap. If for some reason you wont make it to the polls on election day then by all means do an absentee ballot. My dad is having knee surgery on election day this year so of course he will be unable to vote in person and has asked for and already received his absentee ballot.. my mother also has asked for and received a absentee ballot being that she will be with my father at the hospital.

Anyhow, what are your feelings on Early Voting? Do you support it? If you do, how early should you be allowed to vote?

Dave. By early voting do you mean early absentee voting by mail?

Probably a week or two would be ok. Dave, my best to your Dad for a successful surgery, and my prayers for your mom too, this sounds serious, sadly. Best regards.

Absentee voting, yes.  Early voting, no.  Being able to enter your own polling place on election day because an unconstitutional ban has been lifted by a true vote-suppresser, priceless.

Its hard enough to keep it legal when everyone votes at once, why the extra accounting on all levels by early voting?

My thoughts are similar here in that by having early voting periods I am sure there are not the same monitors that are at polling places on the official election days. Thus making it far easier than it already will be if the voter ID laws are declared unconstitutional.

Note it was a known never disputed fact black panther party members stood menacingly in front of a few Philly area poll places even though our communist Atty General chose to not prosecute for the blatant offense. the only reason there was any light brought to the issue was the fact on the actual election day there are observers in place.
