I thought Obama promised no more wars-Libya attacked

Just heard on the news that France and USA (of course) attacked Libya...Seems the only difference between Libya and Iraq are that there is no mention of weapons of mass destruction.

 

I don't understand how it is justified for Obama to order attacks there since they are in a civil war not war with other countries. Please explain SOMEONE.

 

Didn't the Dem's promise they'd get us out of wars including Afghanistan and Iraq? Then no more middle East warfare?

My understanding is that the U.S. planes were attacking anti aircraft weapons so that a no fly zone can be enforced. I agree with the decision. Gaddafi has in his mind to annihilate large portions of Libyas population. We can't stand by and do nothing.

Morally I would agree with you RJE.. However we as a country have no moral dictate anymore. We are largely a self serving and immoral country. The fact is.. it took other countries invoking leadership to drag us into this may give us some needed cover with those who will no doubt attack us for the move.

Also.. the same lack of funds that will cost our Grand Children the life we had just got larger. I have to agree with trump on this one when will we force those countries we help to pay for our lost blood?

I seem to remember someone running for president in 2008 saying he would get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan.  Still there, and now we are involved in a war with another Muslim country.  Cruise missiles aren't cheap, Obama has not made the case for starting aggression/war, and civil wars are things to avoid in general. 

That this is a pre-emptive strike based on limited intelligence in a sovereign country should make those that hated Bush for the other wars sound hypocritical if they don't denounce it.

But then again after Libya claimed civilian deaths (DUH) I heard a rumor he is now saying he should not have done that.

 

Now he's out traveling and they say he is in touch with those strategizing what to do in Libya. That is the first shred of truth I've found yet. He has his smartphone so he can conference call from anywhere there is reception.

Where is the Constitutional authority for this?  Has Obama ceded sovereignty to the UN?  Does anyone care anymore?

Point well taken Max, and thus we have found ourselves in numerous wars, for numerous decades, never formally declared, nor sanctioned by our very own Congress and Senate. And, are we to go yet into Pakistan, as Obama has also stated in the recent past? Maybe War #4, and maybe yet others not talked about in public? I heard Hillary also spouting off that this Fly By agreement with UN backing, is the best way to get rid of Qadaffe, asap. And the next day she also said this would be her first and last term as Secretary of State, ending in 2012. Has she suddenly and unexpectedly shown her hand a little early for the upcoming primaries next year? With no respect nor loyalty to the hand that fed her this important position of power?

O'bama fell for a set up, believing the arab league would actually fight against their own. No matter how this turns out, we will be hated by the arab people, as usual. Its a know win situation for the US
