I checked out the other local site today and saw that they have changed their focus, and have now become a photo sharing site.  They took off the forum earlier this year for a short time, but it looks as if this is more of a permanent move.  Here is what the main page looked like as of this post.  Please invite any and all of those good folks who have been conributing to that forum over here.  We welcome their input, and their right to talk.

I just checked in with LDN and your right. No forum. I didn't see anything to indicate it was temporary. I would sure like to know what decision making processes were involved in LDN's choice to eliminate the Talk in Ludington Talks.
filthy nazies. first they decide not to add any new members except two city loving dog parkers since aug. then they take off the forum. WITH NO WARNING. i would pee on the govners computer if he did that here if i had the oppertunity. that crap that ludington talks... see the irony... did is so amatuerish. LONG LIVE FREE SPEECH. LONG LIVE THE LUDINGTON TORCH.
Your brand loyalty is duly noted and commended. Your method of exacting revenge on those who would stifle your free speech is also duly noted.
Must of been a temporary thing... I went over there and everything was as it normally is.
3:54 a.m. - It's gone again
I just went there and there is no forum. They probably got tired of the trash posted by some and decided to stop the forums completely rather than have to deal with it.

I imagine the new eEdition takes a lot of time and it seems there were a few who insisted on turning every topic into their political agenda. Oh and they have started posting updates on facebook plus I think they tweet. Too bad it takes a few to destroy it for everyone.
And its back again.

They must be having some sort of issues there either with Ning or something in the office.
Dave,
Are you sure it's back? Have you tried posting there? My computer shows it's tag line being "Ludington Photo Sharing Site", the forum and groups are totally removed (you can still see snippets of what used to be if you use the search LT up in the corner). If yours has those two features, I want my upgrade too.

Just checked it out. You can get on the forum if you go to the "Rules" header, then hit the link that takes you to "a relevant thread from the past", which takes you to the "COOL IT!" thread, click on all discussions at the top left. Dave is the only one on the playground I've seen. How did you get there, Dave?
Dave,
I figured it out. You must have a direct link in your web browser's "Favorites" to the Ludington Talks forum. If you just link to their main page, like I have, you have to use trickery to find the lost forum. In the concept of fairness here is a link to their forum pages, I suggest clearing out anything you might wish for your posterity (if anything), and perhaps have an 'underground forum'.

I'm checking here from the library till my system is up and running again, and I too have a lost forum there. I hardly can imagine any talk forum without the talk, after all, that's the whole objective, isn't it? I too clicked on the search and got some old stuff from last February. If this is LT's way of progress for photo sharing only, they might just as well shut the entire thing down right now, imho. Back in the day, WKLA had a program called Ludington Speaks. It lasted a few years, was quite interesting with phone calls to the station with live broadcasts of local interest too. Seems when the local government got hit too many times for crookedness and questionable acts, they too decided to pull that plug. Looks like freedom of speech nowadays is a bygone right. Sad.
Just an FYI - I have a direct link in my favorites, but the forum is no longer there. I think they owe some explanation to their thousands of members.
I guess i'm just special.. haha

I do have a direct link in my favorites bar I have on Firefox so that I only have to click it to get to the forum. At least 1 other person has posted something... I posted a couple things today, first one just to see if I could still post new threads there.

It would seem like they should at least give some sort of explanation as to what exactly they are doing. If they are discontinuing the forum then let people know, and preferably give a reason why as in they don't wish to or have the time to deal with it anymore.
