The original intent and reason for PETA, (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), was commendable and worthy of praise.                                                                                               However, recent reports now reveal the fact that vans being used to pickup abused, neglected, unwanted, lost, and ill animals is also being used to do away with the animals and then put them in dumpsters. How shocking and cruel as I see it.                                                                               The main intent of the organization per it's members has been to help heal, protect, and shelter these type animals until a new owner can take them home. Recent revealing reports say otherwise. Check out humanewatch.com for some other details and articles of recent findings.                                   This is the same group that came to Ludington's Lake Michigan some years ago spouting that fishermen were torturing fish by catching them with sharp hooks. Looks like the shoe's on the other foot now, or hook or something.                                                                                                   This group has been known to be made up of some radical liberals through the years that like to take their actions to extremes, mostly unlawfully, and almost always unethically. Either way, it's this kind of hypocrisy that burns me up. If what is newly reported is true, these people need to be arrested for inhumane treatment of animals entrusted into their care, and punished to the maximum.

Hey, now. I am a flag waving PETA fanatic vegan, LOL Not really, like you I heard of the things they have done and question their legitimacy. I have thought about starting a new organization to replace peta that will actually live up to the mission and goals of the original organization. What they are now is not what they should be. If Mason County (Spanoila in particular) would get off the anti-medical marijuana bandwagon I would start my own compassion club to fund such an organization(and to fund those who are truthfully in need of medicine by donating it to them as the shop in Chase sponsors a sick gentleman).

BUT a larger portion(than the humans get) of the funds would go to building and setting monies in trust for a new no-kill animal shelter or putting money into the orgs already working in Mason Co..

Well, good to see there's at least one other animal lover on this forum. Surprising to see no one else seems to care or comment to this new revelation in inhumane agencies probably operating with some Federal funding too.

Check out the humane society of the us, and their track record. They euthenize 80% of animals entrusted to them.

Just a money making ruse under the pretense of caring!

PETA is afflicted with the problem many fringe groups have.  They engage in a lot of symbolic gestures to show the ills of what they are either 'for' or 'against', but when it comes to crunch time, they fall short in putting their ideals into practice.

A similar question is:  Do most 'Greenies' analyze, or even care, if the energy or device they support due to its 'greenness' fails to be an adequate replacement for the existing energy or device?
