SHAY SPENDING $40k IN WATERFRONT SAFETY for 2011?

LDN alert, Mr. Shay, our CM, has proposed spending at least $40K in safety for the Ludington Stearns Park Beach next year? This includes a lot of new ring buoy's and what? NO LIFEGUARDS AGAIN! Anyone wonder what this wonderboy is thinking? With the 3 drownings and deaths this past summer, directly on his sorry empty head, has this BOY WONDER got any clue as to what is truly needed for REAL SAFETY? Me sadly thinks not! Maybe, we should give SHAY a taste of what local Swimming Lessons ARE! By giving him some personal lessons in an undertoe, and I for one, will personally volunteer my expertise as a former Life Guard.

This discussion was closed when I read it. Did you close it, Aquaman, X, or Dave? I re-opened it because I read today's paper and saw that part of this $40K might just go to lifeguards, the ranger program like they had a few years back, or more than just life rings and signs.

I am thinking that is an awful lot of money for the rings and signs. Maybe the ~~killers~~ officials actually have working heads and hearts.

Perhaps someone accidentally hit the 'close discussion' tab.
From what I remember the ranger program saved money but wasn't so well thought of as the lifeguards. If this comes down to a vote on lifeguards it will be a split vote, and the decision will hinge on the new council member's votes.

Wanda Marrison is a big question mark, though I think she might vote 'yea'. Wally Taranko's career following his being LPD's Chief makes me think he would be in favor of them. This is the first time this question comes before them, so let them hear from you.
