On Tuesday, 9-21-2021, Peg Mathis wrote a letter showing an update of the district's 'Safety Mitigation Plan', the document is shown here.  She also included the letter on the LASD website and it's still up there today on Thursday.  The gist of it is shown below with two areas highlighted:

As you can see, the letter tells parents and children of the district that the mitigation plan has been amended.  It reflects that rather than the LASD having a mask mandate, provisionally implemented when the local testing positivity rate is above 10%, the amended policy has facial coverings being strongly encouraged.  If you are a parent who wants to have your kids not wear a facial covering at school for whatever reason (and there are plenty), then send them to school tomorrow with a copy of this letter from the school superintendent.

If you are a student at LASD and choose not to wear a mask for all the detriments to your health and learning that it imposes, then print out this letter from Superintendent Mathis reflecting their new policy, and show it when somebody takes offense at your bare face.  If you are a teacher at LASD and yearn to be able to see your student's faces and yearn to let them see your smiles, and your frowns, and if you believe Sweden's example and all those randomized control trials that scientifically prove that masks have no significant effect on community spread, photocopy this letter and show it to any Ken or Karen that wants to claim the policy is otherwise.

Have your fun now, before the policy mysteriously changes back to a sadistic and unscientific mask mandate, courtesy of four school board members that want to take away your family's freedom.

Thanks for the update X. The LASD should include the "science based facts" that they are getting from District #10 Health Dept. on which they are making their decisions and demanding the school system to follow, unless of course, they think the poor dumb slobs who pay their salaries won't be able to understand the information. These arrogant people have yet to justify what they are doing in any kind of detail. If they had any kind of reasonable information and facts that made sense they should lay it out on the table and let the people decide. If they did that, I don't think there would be any controversy. As far as I'm concerned they must prove they are right and that they know what they are doing.

Willy, they have the information supplied to them on their website, including a presentation by DHD #10's Dr. Morse and additional resources, that's where I drew the material for the rebuttals found here.  The full school guidance is all here.  Fourteen RCT studies done on the efficacy of masks in preventing community spread all have determined mandated mask use has no significant effect.  None of those are passed along, but have one state adopt mandatory mask usage when they are near the top of their epidemiology curve, they will make a fuss and blather when the spread drops as it naturally would if masks weren't used.

This is all Faucian deception, not fake news, but fake science of the highest order, spun to be embraced by the majority of the masses who want to believe the tyrants taking their rights and offering them safety in return.  I would call it classic Stockholm Syndrome, but they have been trained in this plandemic not to believe anything coming from Sweden.

   Sheep!

Tom do you understand this was related to sports only?
You should have highlighted the athletics and exemptions part.

Common sense. It appears that the explanation at the top of the letter is improperly stated. This letter is clearly addressing all students and staff. The only mention of student athletes is the 2nd to last paragraph. Taken in it’s entirety the directive can be confusing. Possibly intentionally.

The link to this letter is right on the home page of the LASD (see this screen shot) not on the page associated with athletics but for all students, as you say, clearly addressing all students and staff, not just athletes and coaches.  Commonsense has it wrong, however, the intent of the school board from what I understand was not to retract the existing mask policy-- but they did.  Maybe next time they will actually include these new policies in their agenda packets so that they know what they are voting on, and so does the people who are really in charge:  the district's taxpayers and parents.
