The Theory of Moral Relativity
In the last couple of days, two very disturbing stories regarding Michigan men and women have come to light, the first is a crime that may have been committed by one of our young men on a very young girl.
LUDINGTON — A 22-year-old Ludington man has been charged with criminal sexual conduct second degree in connection with an incident with a 5-year-old female. The Mason County Sheriff’s Office arrested Matthew Weber Tuesday for the alleged event that took place June 8.
The sheriff’s office reports the victim is a relative of Weber. He was arrested and arraigned and is currently at the Mason County Jail with a $10,000 cash bond.
A preliminary examination in 79th District Court is scheduled for June 19 at 11:15 a.m.

Not knowing any of the facts of the matter, and not very confident of the MCSO's methodology in such matters (re: Todd Johnson), I will give Matthew Weber the presumption of innocence, and hope he is, and it's a false alarm. If Weber is found to be guilty of CSC, we can only hope the damage to the girl's overall development is minimal, and that his sentence, and anyone's sentence who conspired with him, is maximal.
The other is even more disturbing and happened in Jackson, Michigan over a year period:
A 27-year-old man sexually assaulted his three-year-old daughter 'too many times to remember', during which time his wife would hold the toddler's hand so that it 'wouldn't hurt so much', court documents reveal.
The Michigan man, who is not being named to protect his daughter, has been arraigned on 12 counts of first degree sexual misconduct after it emerged he repeatedly raped the three-year-old, took illicit photographs of her for his own 'sexual gratification' and made her watch child porn.
The man admitted to Blackman-Leoni Township public safety detectives Joseph Merritt and Christopher Boulter that he may have attempted to have sex with his daughter six times but that in reality it occurred 'too many times to remember'
His wife also admitted assisting her husband while he attempted to penetrate their daughter more than once, holding her hands 'so it wouldn't hurt so much' while he held her legs if she 'tried to get away', according to documents.
The graphic details were revealed in a petition filed by the Department of Human Services, which is seeking to terminate his and his wife’s parental rights.
They were living at the Avalon Hotel, 2000 Bondsteel Drive.
The abuse is believed to have begun late last year and continued until May, MLive reports.
It came to the attention of Children's Protective Services on May 7 when they received a complaint that the toddler was displaying 'sexualized behavior' such as 'humping her stuffed animals' and asking her brother for sex. She also found a pornography DVD and tried to watch it.
The wife claims her husband would force sex on her and she would physically shake in his presence, according to MLive.
He grabbed her throat once when she tried to stop him physically abuse her sons when they were two and four-years-old and told her if she called police he would throw her out the window.
The man told detectives he is a 'sex addict' and has gambling problems. He also said he was sexually abused as a child, as did his wife.
The couple would watch porn and have sex in front of the children.
The toddler's father wrote her an apology letter, which the petition quotes.
'If you're reading this, I am either dead or in jail. I am not proud of being here.
'I also was touched as a child and repressed its memory as long as I could. When we moved, that nightmare came back and haunted me and I unfairly took it out on you.
'I am sorry for what I have done and hope that you have a happy life wherever you end up.'
He also wrote: 'I know you are going to have a lot of questions as to why this happened and I can't tell you that at this time, I am not fully sure as to why this happened.
'Please know that I want the best for you and I am going to get the help I need. My head is not right and hasn’t been for a long time.'
The mother has not been charged with any crime as yet but the investigation is continuing.

Let's pray that this three year old can find peace and a stable family to look after her, and these 'parents' receive justice.
Our culture has adopted "moral relativism" a philosophy that asserts there is no global, absolute moral law that applies to all people, for all time, and in all places. Instead of going by objective moral law, it espouses a qualified view where morals are concerned, especially in the areas of individual moral practice where personal and situational encounters supposedly dictate the correct moral position. “You have your way, I have my way. As for the right way, it does not exist.”, as Friedrich Nietzsche would say.
The tragic truth for the moral relativist is this: when you disqualify morality and divorce it from a higher authority, you make way for an individual or group of individuals to take power and, in authoritarian fashion, impose their own moral framework on the weaker among us. Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, are just a small subset of these types. The perverts that subject themselves sexually on their own pre-school kids are another.
Before our major religions were formed, Socrates opined: "A system of morality which is based on relative emotional values is a mere illusion, a thoroughly vulgar conception which has nothing sound in it and nothing true." The more we accept moral relativism, the closer we, as a society, get to the point where we can not only tolerate the intolerable actions depicted above by others in the news articles, but justify such behavior when done by ourselves.
Unfortunately we have too many moral relativists inside our government, media, and schools, propagating their myths as absolute truths and making new rules that tell us what is the right way to think. One would be correct in saying that this violates the core philosophy of moral relativism, making the concept self-contradictory, and hence absurd. And leads people like the three mentioned in the articles above to absurd conclusions about what behavior is morally acceptable.

Both are going to have a difficult time in prison because child molesters are treated like dirt in there. They both had better stock up on Vaseline.

omg, Omg, OMG! How could anybody do that, and in the 3 yr old's case, how could a mother go along, I would risk much more injury than being thrown out a window to protect my child. I would have came up with a plan to protect my child!

The tax payers shouldn't have to house, feed, clothe and provide medical care to the parents who admitted to raping their 3 yr old. They should just be shot in the head and end it.
