Michigan businesses are under an even deeper assault by the tyrannical power Governor Gretchen Whitmer has wielded, withstanding the impotent checks and balances that the state legislative and judicial branch have exhibited thus far, six months into a health emergency that will never end if she has her way.

Her latest line of attack uses the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), an agency normally responsible for assuring safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women in Michigan.  To better serve her aims, she has had MIOSHA crack down on those not following her executive orders, effectively creating Covid-19 rules that never existed before as far as workplace safety is concerned.

Violating her executive orders are costly, usually $500 per violation, so some of these businesses that are caught violating the often-arbitrary and conflicting orders, are expected to pay several thousand dollars once they get a visit from MIOSHA and have to be held to account against the governor's ever-growing list of 170+ executive orders this year.

Some of the companies being singled out for MIOSHA enforcement happen to be companies that were declared non-essential earlier in the year, and already have enough problems trying to make anything this year.  In a MSP press release issued Aug 21st it announces MIOSHA has issued the first round of COVID-19 “general duty” citations to six Michigan businesses, which can add more fines than just an EO violation.  This diverse group from around the state features a UPS facility, a mortgage banker, a gas station, an iron works, a residential contractor and a roofing company being fined $33,400 total.

Reading the violations listed for each company should make many people shrug their shoulder and wonder why the state is even pursuing such nitpicky things when MIOSHA already has their hands full with preventing real workplace hazards that claim lives, like the recent fall by the City's water supervisor.

I will only focus on the roofing company, Hills Roofing, LLC based in Niles, MI which was fined $5,300 after MIOSHA noticed four violations of the governor's executive orders by the business.  Rather than list them individually and discuss whether these violations amounted to anything worth the state getting involved in, I will instead display pictures from the governor's recent past (June 4th) showing the seriousness of these violations that these roofers did while working outside on a homeowner's roof:

1.  The employer allowed workers within six feet of one another when it was feasible to have them work more than six feet apart.

2.  The employer did not require workers to wear face coverings when they did not consistently maintain six feet of separation.

3.  The employer had not developed a COVID-19 preparedness and response plan, which would have included requirements for social distancing and use of face coverings.

4.  The employer had not conducted employee training on COVID-19 that covered social distancing and the use of face coverings.

On June 4th, Governor Whitmer had executive orders mandating masks and social distancing, it was only a couple of days after she rescinded her 'stay at home' order.  She was immersing several state and local officials into this peaceful protest at great disregard for her own rules.  She was fined nothing, to the contrary, the mainstream press and her political party loved her for it.

Yet the MIOSHA minions of this hypocrite is planning on fining a roofing company over $5000 for:

Not social distancing-- maybe tools, nails, and shingles needed to be shared, or it was impractical to work on two different sections of roof.  Maybe a job was only safe with two people working close.

No face coverings-- maybe wearing a mask on a hot roof when one is only around other fellow roofers and incidentally near them is more hazardous, as hot outdoor mask-wearing can lead to dehydration, heat stroke and dizziness, all of which could kill a roofer.

Employers lack of preparedness and response plans and training on Covid-19 procedures of social distancing and masks-- it's a roofing company where social distancing is part of the work!

These violations are ludicrous, and one more way Governor Whitmer is attempting to destroy the State's economy by fining these six businesses and throwing the fear of Gretch in all of the others who would dare not follow her executive orders, even if they thought they were.  Michigan is becoming closer to a Banana Republic with each new order that comes out, and with each new attempt at enforcement of these flighty whims.

Michigan Gov. Whitmer ‘not going to be bullied’ into reopening businesses that are still closed

Whitmer says science will determine when COVID-19 rates are low enough to reopen businesses

LANSING, Mich. – Michigan  Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said Tuesday 8-25-20 that she’s “not going to be bullied” into reopening businesses that are still closed because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Imagine that. The bully won't be bullied. Worst Michigan Governor

When Whitmer declares science will determine when businesses can reopen she's not talking of medical science, she's talking completely about political science.

According to State records around 6400 [and I seriously doubt that number] people out of 10,000,000  have died in Michigan from Covid 19.

The average death rate in Michigan for all deaths is about 80,000 per year and we've never closed the State. It all depends on who's in power. When Marxists are in control there we will always have trouble and hysteria. Don't kid yourself Whitmer is as big a Marxist as the Black Lives Matter clan.
