Duck Dynasty’s’ Korie Robertson announces family’s statement on suspension: ‘We cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch’

The “Duck Dynasty” family has issued its statement on Phil Robertson’s suspension for his remarks on homosexuality and sin. As posted on the Duck Commander site:

We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support.  The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E’s decision.  We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word.  While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm.  We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty.   Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.

I guess if he had made quotes from the Koran concerning homosexuals, everything would be fine.

Good point easy. You never hear the left criticizing Islam's teachings regarding women and gays because they're to afraid of Islam. They don't want to be one of the Muslim's targets. They know Christians won't try to kill them. Regarding Robertson, he has a right to voice his opinions, A&E has a right to hire and fire whom they please and we have a right to boycott A&E, so the circle is complete.

Willy,

You can bet that A&E will try to back track or work with the family to settle this to each's  benefit. There is to much money involved for A&E.

The Robertson's have millions of their own and doesn't need the reality show. As they have said many times, they're just country folk who happened to be given a TV show. Fact: Duck Dynasty inc. is worth 400 million bucks.

A couple people have called Bass Pro, one of the sponsors, and asked out right

how many of their customers are DD fans, as compared to how many belong to the gay community?

I suspect the suspension of Phil Robertson will be short lived... I got a feeling that A&E didn't think that the backlash from the suspension would be what its turned out to be. I saw a Facebook page that is supporting Phil Robertson that in just 24 hours already had over 1.2 million 'likes'.. that's pretty impressive. If A&E doesn't want Duck Dynasty anymore, I"m sure there will be a line up networks that will happily take it over... seen that Glenn Beck's network "The Blaze" would happily nab the franchise if it was to become available.

I have a feeling the Robertson family may not want to continue, we A&E.

easy you are so right. You never heard much from media once so murder of a young girl killed once family came forward and he murdered his daughter for sake of family honor.  I think it happened in Dearborn a year or 2 back.

I ran my truck up past Toronto everyday for 9 years, and you wouldn't believe the honor killings that take place up there.

Here's a video that describes how Sharia law is infiltrating a town right here in Michigan at Dearborn.  Dearborn is a place where many 'honor killings' are apparently committed without repercussion, because of the power and influence of the Muslim faith there. Here's an article that explains both the honor killings and the intolerance of this faith in Dearborn.

It's amazing what is going on.

google dearbornastan and you'll be amazed at the things that go on there.

I go to Dearborn quite frequently when I'm back in michigan, I don't see any of this going on. What I do know is that before the Arab community moved in, it was a hell hole. An extension of the slums of Detroit. Once the Arab community came in, they started opening up businesses in the boarded up store fronts. The town is quite nice now.

According to the Daily Mail (UK), the Robertson family of Duck Dynasty believes that A&E “hung [them] out to dry,” given the fact that an A&E handler was there during the GQ interview in which Phil Robertson made his much-ballyhooed comments about homosexuality. A source told the Mail, “You have to ask yourself why this interview happened and why it ever became public. Someone from A&E was there and was aware of the kind of answers Phil was giving. But despite that, they didn’t ever try to stop it or control it. Instead, they let it hit the headlines and then released a statement condemning it.”

The source continued, “It is our belief that they knew what was going to happen and then used the situation to exercise control over Phil. It is our understand that when the TV executives came up with the concept for the show they wanted it to be a case of people laughing at a bunch of backward rednecks. But when it didn’t turn out like that and people actually started identifying with the way the family behaved and were laughing with them, not at them, they became uncomfortable. It did not sit will with the New York TV types.”

The source also said that the family feels A&E was uncomfortable with the family’s “insistence that there would be a strong religious presence in the show. They knew Phil was the driving force behind this and we think they have used this situation to bring him in line so they could steer the show back down the path they originally intended for it.”

Other reports have stated that the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation held a call with A&E before its decision to suspend Robertson.

The blowback against A&E has been massive, with millions of people demonstrating support for Robertson, and commentators from both left and right condemning the network for its attempt to take Robertson off the air.
