If Obama has any guts at all, he needs to let Holder go. Holder said just back in May that he had just found about Project Fast and Furious with a few weeks of the hearing he was taking part in. Now that these memos have surfaced, he's saying he didn't understand the question... that question being "when did you first hear about project Fast and Furious?".... I'm just a normal guy in rural America and I had no problem understanding what is a VERY simple question. Holder has embarrassed the office of the Attorney General and the Obama Administration for that matter. At the rate Holder is going, he's going to be lucky to not be put on trial for committing perjury.

WASHINGTON - New documents obtained by CBS News show Attorney General Eric Holder was sent briefings on the controversial Fast and Furious operation as far back as July 2010. That directly contradicts his statement to Congress.

On May 3, 2011, Holder told a Judiciary Committee hearing, "I'm not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks."

Yet internal Justice Department documents show that at least ten months before that hearing, Holder began receiving frequent memos discussing Fast and Furious.

Read the new documents

Read the July 5, 2010 memo Read the "It's a tricky case" email Read the memo to AG Holder from Asst. AG Lanny A. Breuer

The documents came from the head of the National Drug Intelligence Center and Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer.

In Fast and Furious, ATF agents allegedly allowed thousands of weapons to cross the border and fall into the hands of Mexican drug cartels.

Gunwalking scandal uncovered at ATF

It's called letting guns "walk," and it remained secret to the public until Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered last December. Two guns from Fast and Furious were found at the scene, and ATF agent John Dodson blew the whistle on the operation.

Agent: I was ordered to let guns "walk" into Mexico

Ever since, the Justice Department has publicly tried to distance itself. But the new documents leave no doubt that high level Justice officials knew guns were being "walked."

Two Justice Department officials mulled it over in an email exchange Oct. 18, 2010. "It's a tricky case given the number of guns that have walked but is a significant set of prosecutions," says Jason Weinstein, Deputy Assistant Attorney General of the Criminal Division. Deputy Chief of the National Gang Unit James Trusty replies "I'm not sure how much grief we get for 'guns walking.' It may be more like, "Finally they're going after people who sent guns down there."

The Justice Department told CBS News that the officials in those emails were talking about a different case started before Eric Holder became Attorney General. And tonight they tell CBS News, Holder misunderstood that question from the committee - he did know about Fast and Furious - just not the details.

I agree, Dave.  Let's let Eric 'walk' across the border.

We can't have an Attorney General be doing this.

Good job, CBS, and great job ATF Agent Dodson, the whistleblower.

Holder is again saying that he didn't know about the operation until last April. Big problem with that claim is if that is the case, he would have to be terribly inept.

Eric, do the right thing... step down... stop being an embarrassment.

Last week, Krauthammer, made the statement on Fox, that Holder should have said that he doesn't see all memo's coming in because his staff gets most of them and there are too many for him to personally read them all. Guess what excuse he is using now? Seems people on his staff also watch fox news, as do O's people.

I don't buy that for one minute

I wonder if this situation didn't start at the top of the ladder. It would be nice if Obama was involved.

Do you remember when O spoke to the brady group and told them that they were working on things under the radar? That was earlier this year.

I'm sure he knew about F&F, proving it is another story

It should be mentioned that during the presidents recent press conference with the leader of South Korea a few days ago, that Obama mentioned that even if not everyone in the Iranian government knew about the plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador, that the Iranian leaders are just as responsible for the actions. Apparently he doesn't feel the same about the U S government.

Also, there is apparently tape/video of Obama talking about F&F back in either late Feb or early March during an interview with Univision I think. Holder says he didn't know about for about another 6 weeks or so. So are we to believe that Obama knew about F&F before Holder? If that's the case, it would definitely show how inept Holder is.

Holder was back in front of a panel up on capital hill yesterday and further shows why he should be sent on his way. The moron couldn't even bring himself to apologize to the family of the border agent that was killed. Turns out he hasn't even talked to them... none of them. He also said that he should of said 'a couple of months' instead of 'a few weeks' when asked about when he first heard of Project Fast & Furious. Credibility is not Holders strong point at this point... although I don't know if it ever was.

What's really sad is when you consider that the recent drone strike that took out Senior Al Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki and another America-born militant, that a phone call was made to the father of the American born militant to apologize for the death.... yet no one in DOJ, specially the head of the DOJ can bother to call the family of Brian Terry to offer their sympathy? That's messed up!

Hey, Dave, your buddy Eric Holder is slithering stepping down nearly three years later.

Dave, that's true, your ship finally came in, thank GOD!

Finally, Holder does something I can agree with

There is SO MUCH corruption by EH in this admin. that he finally had to give in, and what's his punishment? NADA!
