I am both saddened and shocked to find myself repeating  prior posts, probably long lost in the archives here, of not fully enjoying this precious and favorite season for joy and fellowship with my fellow Americans. All  because of the something like a 10 year NEWBIE tradition of trashing Christmas here at home. It's because of SP's, the (secular progressives) or more commonly known as the "politically correct liberals" that permeate our daily lives. Yes, it's Christmas and New Years soon again, and now those SP's can freely and repeatedly attack our Christmas celebration. WHY & HOW? Why, I believe they have a set of knives and forks to eat with just as we do, but, they have nothing on their plate to eat, and therefore, have to slice and dice the rest that do. Philosophically speaking, that means, at least to me, that they are blanks on the role call of reality, no meat, potatoes, veggies, nor even a meager excuse to be happy.  Not even an appetizer of positive comments to chew on. Empty plates = empty heads. Angry and despondent people with all the time in the world to pick fights, instead of being peaceful and loving individuals. Too much time to devise a mechanism for division and confrontations. The USA has prided itself throughout history in defining our being as a christian god fearing nation that follows the biblical preachings of love of thy neighbor, forgiveness, charity, and loyalty. Can this philosophy be so terrible and bad for mankind?  HOW? How can we say Happy Holidays in place of Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one another? How can we now call a Christmas tree a Holiday tree like the Rhode Island Governor of a few days ago? How can we tear down the Nativity scene and birth date of the savior and God's only son, whom was the Prince of Peace? I'm far from a righteous bible thumper or preacher, but, I again ask, why tear down our institutions and traditions for the sake of illegal aliens and atheists? Does the traditions offend them so that this must occur every year constantly? Why can't everyone just accept these American traditions without fear, frenzy, and overzealous actions to squash them into the past? Let every citizen, whether legal or not, celebrate their own way of Christmas with the religion of their choice, albeit alien to us as Americans, but, can you just do it without this chaos and feeble ways of attracting attention to yourselves as martyrs? Leave true Americans alone, and vice-versa, is all I can ask for. But, that only seems a distant dream of yesterday now, or is it?

Actually, I think in reality, they are not ALL hard-core atheists.   Many just feel that there should be a strong separation between church and state.

Well said William, and for the record, I am NOT saying that ALL Libs are participating in this War on Christmas, because I don't believe in casting and bashing all one type of Klan, I mean clan. Thanks anyways IDJ. I should point out that it most often seems like the types attacking anything religious are "usually liberal" and probably mostly, but "not always atheists", but of other secular religious beliefs also. So, the War will be fueled each day until we finally get to celebrate that special event, yes, it's called Christmas, not just another Holiday. And I do get fed up and angst with the entire episode until it makes me sick to my stomach. Watch the NEWS everyday until Dec. 25th and observe the mess that entails each day practically. Peace on Earth, and Good Will to all, and keep your nosey beliefs and restraints unto thine selves, Amen.

I am a firm believer in the separation of Church and State. Government should not be in the business of promoting any Religion and I'll tell you why. Let's say a Nativity scene is on display at a county courthouse. I think that's a wonderful thing and so do most folks. However along comes a radical Muslim group who want their religious symbols on display at that same courthouse. What is the Government to do?  I'm using the Muslim faith as an example because the dark side of that Religion is not something I want my family exposed to and I certainly don't want a Government endorsement of that belief. This also holds true for schools. Some folks want prayer in class but if that were allowed who would decide what prayers? Which religion? Prayers from the Koran maybe? It's a slippery slope and a dangerous one. The framers of the Constitution knew that all to well and were aware of the potential for abuse when any one religion gains power over citizens. A perfect example of this is in the Muslim countries. Most of them have Islam as the State religion and their Constitution and laws adhere to Sharia Law. Don't think something like that couldn't happen here. Great Britain is now experience that  scenario. Muslims there are demanding that Sharia Law be made  part of Britain's  legal system.

How is there a WAR going on between Good and Evil?   There is absolutely no relationship between belief in God and morality.    Given, universal moral standards must exist, but belief in God does not necessarily have to be the source of those standards.

I'd be really curious as to how many liberal friends you have.    You have probably scared them all off, LOL.    But, in all honesty, I don't have too many super conservative friends either.   I am a bit of an introvert and rarely discuss politics at all, but also, just find so many conservatives intolerable.

As to the God thing.....I am absolutely spiritual,  but in an indefinable divine grace kind of way.   I definitely feel God's presence, but am also quite comfortable with the mystery of it all.   I suppose under your definition, I would not be a Christian, but believe in the teachings of Jesus and consider the Bible a fascinating, enlightening commentary and moral guide of its time, but not the literal word of God.   Despite this, I consider myself a good and moral woman.   I would not kill, steal or cheat,  and strive for the peaceful resolution of conflicts.    I am greatly relieved that you would not stone me for my beliefs, just in case I ever happened to  meet up with you in town or the like!

Suppose that Jane (whom we will assume was born and raised in these United States) is visited one evening by the prophet Muhammad – peace and blessings be upon him – because her dogs’ barking is apparently disturbing the folks over in Mecca. Then suppose that Jane, after listening to the Messenger of Allah, suddenly realizes how spiritually barren her life has been so she decides to convert to Islam. ALLAHU AKBAR! (“God is great” for those of you who slept through Arabic language class in school).

Can Jane become a Tea Party member? What about Ms. Jubi, who decides to indicate on her Tea Party application form that she is a High Priestess in the Wicca religion? Will she be accepted?

Very concisely stated, Willy, and I share your beliefs and concerns. While it is true that I am a liberal, I don't necessarily enjoy every action taken by extremists in my political party. I generally understand their reasoning in many instances, such the slippery slope example you cited regarding making exceptions for one religious group vs all groups, but that doesn't prevent me from getting a headache over their sometimes rabid vociferousness in presenting their case. Liberals are occasionally amused by the wild ideas of our own extremist members, until their craziness actually starts to effect certain traditions and public policies.

Wow, I so agree with your post William.

Willam, that last post is soooooo true, thanks for that useful and informational post, of facts too, not just opinion. Jane, just for the record, I wonder if you would change your birthday to New Years Eve day, Dec. 31st, that way you can celebrate both the 31st and New Years Day and get paid for both? Or how about changing your name too? Like making your name Pie, cause it's your favorite desert, or maybe blue, cause it's your favorite color, or maybe even Utah, cause it's your favorite state? It makes just as much sense as changing any legal recognized Holiday date to me, how bout you? At age 50 some years ago, I decided I was no longer going to work that day, no matter what, cause, I worked the first 30 years of my life that day irregardless of the weekday, and either postponed or celebrated it earlier. I had seen many many others taking their birthday off, no matter what the boss said or what responsibilities they had to do that day. So, now I go out of town and have a nice day doing whatever I want, perhaps you should too, it might make up for the other odd day Holidays that wreak havoc with your mindset.

I don't think I have even thought it was appropriate to take a birthday off work since I 16, but when I am your age I may change my mind(not being sarcastic). So all I have to do is change my birthday or name to get all national holidays put on a monday or friday, I'll file the forms tomorrow! But my name would be cake, not pie! I could be Cake Baker for my life if it gets me 30 or 40 years of long weekends!

You know you live in a country full of idiots when a self proclaimed socialist who admits to having a fondness for Marxism is elected not once but twice to the Presidency.

You know you are living in a country populated by idiots when a biblical “spare the rod, spoil the child” mentality gives parents the inspiration to beat children to the point of hospitalization or death.

You know you are living in a country populated by idiots when people can’t comprehend how 300 years of slavery and subsequent years of racism influence attitudes today.

You know you are living in a country populated by idiots when there are too many more examples that I have the time or patience to list.
