Not only should we be worried about Agenda 21 but the fact that we are all under surveillance by our own Government 24hrs a day is a sobering indication of what is to come. Beware.

I agree that areas are under surveillance, but I'm pretty sure that we are not all under surveillance 24 hrs a day, if we were we would have a much smaller unsolved crime rate. NYC is full of cameras as I am sure that DC and other big cities of importance are. But I'm pretty sure that when I'm driving around Custer and Free Soil there are no cameras spying on me.
We don't all need to be under surveillance, as was noticed in the first video. If every communication is stored for later use, you just need a viable search engine to get all the information within certain parameters that can be called up from that vast pool of data, to get what you need about a particular person, group, place or event.
It's quite interesting, and quite powerful. And it won't be used for just security, you can count on it.

The point of the discussion is not that every citizen is under surveillance 24 hrs a day but that there is a system in place that collects information about every citizen that uses electronic messaging and it is operational 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. The people in charge of the collection of data aren't interested in everyday criminals, they are interested in political dissidents. When the Patriot Act was passed I knew we were in trouble.

I've heard about these meters but did not realize exactly what they are or how they worked. Thanks Mr. Storm.
Personally I would love one of these, I would love to know how changes in my lifestyle can either lower or raise my utility bills. I have an adjustable thermostat that is set to 68 degrees for 6 hrs (6am-7am and 6pm -11pm ), the rest of the time it drops down to 60 degrees. If I'm home during the 60 degree period I wear warmer clothes and sit under a blanket. I have a oil boiler for both heat and hot water and my oil bill work out to less than $100 a month. My mother likes to heat (natural gas) her house to nice balmy 75 degrees - her heat bill was close to $300 last month- and it wasn't that cold - if she had a smart meter I could have told her daily what she her bill was up to and maybe change some of her habits, as it is she has decided to lower the thermostat to 72 and wear a sweater. Personally I hate giving away my hard earned money to utility companies, I rather use my money for vacations.
I like a balmy 70- 74 when home and leave it a moderate 68-70 for the dogs when not home. A t-shirt and long pajama pants are the heaviest clothes I can tolerate at home, and a blanket or throw on the sofa.
I have one of the fancy thermostats and would much prefer an old fashioned circle shaped one. I have had my fancy one on the over-ride / hold for about 5 years since I got it. to keep the temp where I like it. The program will sometimes switch to the presets once in a while randomly and it i way intolerable at 62 for me.
My mom says she hates to shop or go anywhere (but every time I call she's not home), personally I think she should turn her thermostat down to 65 and get in energy efficient electric heater and turn it on when she's home. I think it would be more economical to heat 1 room to 75, than a whole house.
Ok - there is no way that the smart meter can do that, so I'm really not worried about it.
there would have to be massive changes to the infrastructure of both commercial and residential buildings, along with the infrastructure of the power grid itself. This is just a conspiracy theory run wild.
Well that would be one of the steps that needed to be taken, another would be a new generation of appliances. Most household appliances in the US) are made for 110v power, some require 220v to operate. If the required voltage keeps dropping - like in a brown out condition these appliances break the other scenario is if power is constantly cut and restored you run the risk of a power surge destroying the appliances. There's just way to many holes in this conspiracy theory to make it viable.
Another thing most folks don't realize is that these meters send basically the same signal as a cell phone which can be picked up by any common thief who knows how use a device that can receive these signals. Thieves will know when you are not at home due to the amount of or lack of electrical use. They can keep track of when you are gone and for how long so they will have time to plan their thievery.
