I am in need of some work done on my barn - I have been told (by my sister)that there are Amish settlers in Scottville that do this kind of work. Does anyone happen to know where they are located ? My sister seems to think I should be able to find them from divine intervention (just kidding- but every time she mentions them she says over in Scottville). If anyone has better directions I would greatly appreciate it.

I have a little better directions, Lisa.  There are a few Amish people south of Scottville , some I know live on Hawley Road and Beard Road.  I don't know much about their barn-raising/repairing skills, but the business Countryside Log Furniture at 839 E Hawley Road is ran by Amish folks and they have a telephone number!

They make quality log furniture, we have brought a bed and futon there, and they just may be able to help you with your barn, or connect you to others who do.  Their phone number is (231) 757-0166.

Thank you so very much.
YW.  Let us know if you have any luck-- there may be others tuning in that need some barn-patchin' done.
Am I the only one that thinks its a little funny that Amish would live on Beard Rd? lol
No; I had to stop there one year for an old job I had, and that's one reason why I remembered so well the Amish family that lived there-- by the Beard of the patriarch of that family.
Helmuth Construction. I can get there number.  They dropped there landline when they went on a mission to new zealand last year but are now back here working again. I know his(Ken) truck has the # on the side.
There is another newer sect of the former Amish, that can and do work with permits, building new pole barns etc.. I believe last I heard the real Amish don't do that work, maybe because of licensing and permitting that they don't get involved with due to religious beliefs. I saw the newer sect doing work for an uncle of mine about 7 years ago, half of the workers were under 16 years old, the remaining not over 25 in age. But their quality and efficiency was good.

I've heard of Helmuth Construction, but didn't know they were an Amish enterprise.   On a whim, I googled HC and found the following link on them and mini-barns.  It begs the question:  What's an Amish business doing advertising on that godless internet thing?

Times are a changing....lol
Make me think of when I've seen Amish in looking at cell phones... I'm thinking your clothing doesn't even have zippers but you want some fancy cell phone? lol
The people you have seen with cells and other such items are not true denominational Amish, it's a sect broken off that is of younger progressives that you see here. They share a lot of the traditionalist Amish beliefs, w/o the loss of modern technology to stifle their occupations and lives.
