According to WLDN News 98 radio:  "A Ludington woman has gone missing. Mason County Sheriffs detectives say 49-year-old Cathie Ann Funke left her home on Meisenheimer Road in Summit Township yesterday morning without her purse, credit cards, cash, or cell phone. She also left a suicide note. Funke is described as standing 5'-5", weighing 180 pounds, with brown eyes and short dyed blonde hair. She was driving a maroon 1999 Dodge Caravan; if you have any information, you're urged to call 911 or the Sheriffs office."

Here is the immediate vicinity of her neighborhood.  Reportedly, she like to walk the beach.

Here is a photo of the missing woman:

Apparently she has been found according to the MCP but unable to get into the website to see details other then that their was a vehicle accident.. doesn't say if she is alive or not in the very short blurb on Facebook

This is all the information given so far. It does not sound good cause it does not say ...fair condition or serious condition or good conditon. Why did they initially call the medic chopper then cancel it?

Ok, here is a new update from MCP... doesn't sound like a good situation at all:

Missing woman found

Emergency responders use an ATV to reach the Funke.

EDEN TWP. — Cathie Swanger Funke, who has been missing since Monday morning, was found alive this evening in the Manistee National Forest following a vehicle crash. Emergency personnel were called to the area of Hawley Road between Indian Trails and Walhalla Roads around 6:30 p.m. Witnesses apparently found Funke’s vehicle down a 20-foot embankment off a two-track trail.

Personnel on the scene confirmed it was Funke and the red Dodge Caravan she was driving. The 49-year-old Summit Township resident hadn’t been seen since about 8 a.m. Monday. She left her home leaving her purse, which contained all her credit cards, cash and identification, along with her cell phone. She also left a suicide note, the sheriff’s office reported this morning; she has a history of suicide attempts, using prescription medications.

Earlier in the day an MCP reader posted on our Facebook site that family and friends were going to organize search parties in the national forest.

Funke was transported by Life EMS ambulance to Memorial Medical Center. Initially paramedics had requested Aeromed helicopter to transport her to Grand Rapids, but before leaving the scene they cancelled the request.

In addition to Life EMS, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan Dept. of Natural Resources, Custer Twp. Fire Dept. and Carr Fire Dept. responded to the scene.

I hope this can be a game-changer for her in the positive sense.  What a collective sigh of relief for her friends and family that care about her.

The news media is still saying she is missing so they do not have the update, yet this information is quietly out there so I am not optimistic at all.

The LDN finally reported the same late today, way after the other news agencies had the word out to the public. Not surprising at all for the LDN, the famous news source, highly accredited, and loaded with fame and awards from the media, to be last as usual in the responsibility of such a story.
