Harry Reid calls Koch brothers 'un-American' over Obamacare ads

I think poor Harry is starting to lose it. Per a usual politician, he goes on the floor of the Senate and says what he said... and then when it becomes painfully clear that what he said is making him look stupid he has to come back and 'clarify'.. otherwise known as trying to cover his butt.. that he was really just talking about the Koch Brothers and the ads that have been produced with their money. Apparently the Democratic version of the Koch Brothers, George Soros, is somehow different in his attempts to steer elections to outcomes that he would prefer... myself I don't see the difference but ole Harry apparently does. Kind of think that the democrats have been taking notes from the republicans on how to say stupid things at what are likely inopportune times. I mean what a great idea for Harry... and later on a few other democrats including the painfully inept White House spokesman Jay Carney... to come out and tell people "Hey, your a liar if you had a bad experience with Obamacare", regardless of if they have indeed had a bad experience with Obamacare. I think this is further proof that politicians do indeed know how to be literally stupider then rocks.

WASHINGTON —  Majority Leader Harry Reid, angered by a new round of anti-Obamacare ads he called "lies," condemned the Koch brothers as "un-American" on the Senate floor Wednesday.

Reid's remarks attacking the billionaire Republican contributors Charles and David Koch reflect Democrats' increasing concern that the spending by outside groups like Americans for Prosperity against Democratic candidates could cost the party its Senate majority.

The Nevada Democrat, in the first of two floor speeches on the subject Wednesday, questioned the veracity of new advertisements from Koch-backed groups that feature individuals sharing stories about the apparent hardships they've faced because of the Affordable Care Act.

One features a Michigan resident who said she was fighting leukemia and had her insurance canceled because of the new law. The woman says Rep. Gary Peters' vote to pass the law "jeopardized my health." Peters is the Democratic candidate for Michigan's open Senate seat.

Reid called that ads "absolutely false," and said it was part of an effort by the Koch brothers to "buy" the election.

But he returned to the floor hours later with a hint of a retraction, saying he was not in position to say that all ads from the group were lies —  only "the vast, vast majority of them."

But he went further in attacking the ads' fiscal backers.

"It's time that the American people spoke out against this terrible dishonesty of these two brothers, who are about as un-American as anyone that I can imagine," Reid said.

In a statement, a Koch official said they were "disappointed, but not surprised" that Reid was again attacking them.

"We believe it is disgraceful that Sen. Reid and his fellow Democrats are attacking a cancer victim as part of their campaign against Charles Koch and David Koch," said Philip Ellender, president of Koch Companies Public Sector, LLC, Government and Public Affairs.

Democratic hope of retaining the Senate is seen as increasingly in doubt, with political fallout over the Affordable Care Act as a major reason.

But Senate Democrats launched a new effort Wednesday —  led by Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy —  to counter what they said was a misinformation campaign against the law.

The kickoff for that effort notably did not include any of the incumbents seeking reelection. But Murphy said he hoped the party had learned lessons from 2010.

"There were a lot of Democrats who tried to pretend the Affordable Care Act didn't exist in 2010, and they paid the price," he said. "There's no mistaking the fact that the vast majority of Americans do not want the Affordable Care Act repealed. They want it implemented, They want to see it work."

According to Forbes, "Well. Perhaps Sen. Reid missed this recent New York Times‘ recent story. The Times reported that all around the country, ObamaCare is reducing hours and incomes for “police dispatchers, prison guards, substitute teachers, bus drivers, athletic coaches, school custodians, cafeteria workers and part-time professors.”

ObamaCare requires employers with more than 50 employees to offer “minimum value,” “affordable” health insurance to all full-time employees, defined as those who work 30 or more hours per week. Failure to comply with the employer mandate can bring stiff penalties. The law’s authors hoped the threat of penalties would spur employers to provide health insurance.

Unfortunately, many working-class Americans are receiving a harsh lesson in the Law of Unintended Consequences.  Employers can also comply with the mandate by reducing the number of hours an employee may work to below 30 hours per week, and many employers are doing so. Not only do the affected workers not get an offer of health insurance from their employer, they get a pay cut instead. According to ”William J. Lipkin, an adjunct professor of American history and political science at Union County College in Cranford, N.J.”:

The Affordable Care Act, rather than making health care affordable for adjunct faculty members, is making it more unaffordable. Colleges are not giving us access to health care, and our hours are being cut, which means our income is being cut. We are losing on both ends.

Thanks, ObamaCare!"

Personally, I know several people with low-end jobs that are fearful that they will be cut back under 30 hours by their employers because of the mandates under Obamacare.  Simple economics tells you that this scheme will seriously harm a lot of the working poor, who may just have better income and health care by just not working.

What bothers me is that the Democrats know all of the bad consequences of Obama / Democrat care and continue to try and fool the people into excepting it by intimidation and lying. Liberals are disgusting in their attempt to deceive the American people and force them to accept something that they know is bad for the Country. Liberals are the real unAmericans.

Harry is such a weasel and a slime ball.

Harry is an embarrassment and should not be in a position of leadership in anything other then maybe most pathetic politicians ever. We can be pretty sure he is corrupt to, guy wasn't a millionaire until after he became a member of congress.... one of those things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmm.

This of course wasn't the first time Harry has said stupid stuff.. let us not forget when back during the last presidential campaign he proclaimed that Mitt Romney had not paid his taxes in 10 years yet was never able to produce any sort of evidence to prove his claim... apparently a little bird told him I guess.

And another clear sign that Harry is an idiot, yesterday the senate voted on confirming a controversial candidate for Asst. Attorney General (I think that was the position) that ended with the them denying the confirmation. All ole Harry can talk about is how the republicans caused this to happen.... forgets to mention the 7 democrats that apparently have at least a little bit of intestinal fortitude that they can actually not vote with the party every single time.
