Greetings, Torchers. As a newbie here I would like to say that I have followed your postings for quite some time (actually, since the demise of the "Soup") and now feel compelled to submit my own contribution.

I would like to call upon my fellow liberals to come out of the shadows and be as hysterical about some of our core beliefs as a number of conservatives seem to be lately. Why should they get to have all the fun? I thought we were supposed to be the radicals. Doesn't anyone remember the sixties?

Anyway, I'd like to be the first to congratulate my socialist/communist/the-guy-wasn't-even-born-here/pals-around-with-terrorists/he's-destroying-the-country/President for tricking President George H.W. Bush into signing UN Agenda 21 TWO DECADES AGO and waiting until now to unleash its devastation.

Brilliant strategy and obviously something we libs need to jump up and down about.

I find it interesting how conservatives cite George Carlin to get their points across, while liberals do the verys same!

I thought you enjoyed a little levity in the mix here Tiger, no personal offense intended, just a quip of the moment. Btw, I don't see where Vietnam is currently a Democracy either, neither are many other police actions that we as Americans spent Billions of dollars to free their people, just like Afghanistan after over 10 years of wasted money and lives. I appreciate the service of the men in the field, but not the politicians that stop them short of winning and getting the goals done. You and I are probably closer in age than you think, so not to worry, we're both getting up there, good for us. As for the beer math, you again eluded my levity comprehension, but, cheers my friend.

Aquaman, I know you bear me no malice, nor do I hold any ill will toward you. I knew you were giving me a playful poke and I wasn't offended in the least bit. When I express offense people know it. You were supposed to recognize my Liberal hysterics and comic drama in what I wrote. Maybe your sense of humor has been stunted because you've lived on the angry dark side of politics for too long. Liberals are more relaxed. (See, that was an attempt at humor right there.) If you want us to save you by doing an intervention and deprogramming to turn you into a happy Liberal, just let me know. But don't wait too long because Mr. Bailey will probably cut the funding for this sort of wasteful Socialist program. :-)

Of course, Vietnam isn't a Democracy (although those Communists seem to really like dabbling in Capitalism lately.) We lost that war. We are in definite agreement on the terrible waste of lives and treasure in questionable wars.

Thanks for being polite and understanding as usual Tiger, I look forward to debate with you because for once in many years, I see a Liberal that has brains and brawn to back up his words. Most that have appeared here have been total jackasses that can't spell, nor speak with any politeness and courtesy, using the f word or anything else like a bull in a china shop. Plus they have no facts to back them up. You appear to be a person that has many worldly and intellectual experiences to pass on, and I for one, would appreciate the opportunity to meet and discuss subjects at random in person someday in the future. Politics isn't the only thing to talk about in the world, and I'll bet you have stories that would titillate the mind for hours on end. Great to have you aboard and if I didn't say so before, a warm welcome to the Torch. Thanks for joining at long last.

Mr. Bailey posted this:

“The Coward-Cliven Strategy seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.”

The other name for this is the “Ludington Lucifer Syndrome,” where a citizen repeatedly submits requests under the Freedom of Information Act to a local government entity which then nearly self-destructs from the amount of time it spends trying to process the requests. (Probing to test XLFD’s sense of humor here.)

ROFL, at least that's what Kaye and Shay would say all day.

But in reality, I ask to inspect just a small portion of their records, usually less than a dozen easy-to-locate pages total per request, on average less than once a week.   As is anyone's right to do so.

I do like your characterization, however, Tiger, as the City's bigwigs have claimed this sort of activity as threatening, intimidating, and bringing all other proper and necessary work of the city to a standstill.  So they have a good excuse when they make no-bid contracts, engage in nepotism and cronyism, and violate such acts as the Open Meetings Act and FOIA.

"We were too busy providing public information to Lucifer, to bother with that."

Bureaucrats always resent when it when a citizen looks too closely at their decisions or has the gall to remind them of what is required of them under the law. In Chicago, if a citizen landed on the Mayors excreta list, fire and city building code inspectors would be dispatched to the person’s home or business to discover a multitude of violations. The poor citizen’s home or business would be practically condemned for demolition before the sun set. His or her vehicle would be cited for air pollution violations, microscopic cracks in the windshield and probably underinflated tires. Be thankful you are living in Ludington, XLFD.

Mr. Bailey (and whenever I use that salutation I want you to think of Agent Smith addressing Mr. Anderson in the Matrix), how prescient of you to recognize that my popularity extends far beyond the provincial confines of the Ludington Torch. Is it to anyone's' surprise then that Aquaman has apparently developed a man-crush for me?

TIger

I to was wondering about Aquamans comments to you as well so I think You should consider the respect Aquaman has shown for you as a huge compliment. He doesn't warm so easily to most of the  past progressive / liberals who have posted here. I have to admit the current crop of liberals currently posting are a refreshing change so please don't take it personally when I comment about progressive / liberal politics because I'm aware folks can be progressive thinking on certain issues while taking the conservative stance on others. I also want to acknowledge and thank William for his  contributions to this forum.

Aquaman knows now that I'm just yanking his chain. I do consider it a compliment that he graciously extended a welcome to me and I respect him greatly for the gesture. It's also a known fact that deep down inside every rock-ribbed Conservative lies a Liberal spirit awaiting emancipation.  :-)

iiccckk..  :)

Wow I go to work... Then I come back and find many on the progressive boards hanging out on this lowly conservative run board. We must be doing something right I suppose....Of coarse I thought we were doing more right back in the days a couple of years back also.
