RIP Joe Paterno... regardless of what might of happened at the end of his career, Paterno left a legacy that most coaches will only dream of having. When you think of Penn State, you think of Nittany Lion Football and Joe Paterno. Whatever might of happened to derail his career at the end, I suppose a higher power will have final judgement there.

Willie, I took the liberty of correcting the spelling of Paterno in the title, which you had spelled correctly in the main body.  I would hate to have anyone claim to vote for you as a troll for a typo, LOL.

I believe that history will overlook what I think was a burden unfairly placed on him by the scandal that rocked Penn State.  Furthermore I think he will be redeemed as pretty much a "fall guy" by the time this investigation ends as just someone who could've done something more about what he may have thought was hearsay was reported to him, but passed it up to his superiors instead to investigate.  This happens all the time in business and politics, without the person doing so losing his job.  The sacrifice of Joe Paterno was an effort by the higher ups at Penn Stateto mitigate the University's total culpability in the affair, I believe.

Penn State is not the same without him, and his records are unimpeachable.   So long, Joe, you were a good man, irregardless.

I think Paterno's situation is a good example of someone that when their passion is taken away from them... be it a job they loved or a person that they loved.. that they loose the interest to really go on. Every so often we hear stories about a guy whose wife dies and he ends up passing shortly thereafter or vice versa, I don't think this is any different.

Despite all the health problems reported, I would have to believe that was the main contributing factor.  All those years at the top, doing what he loved, took from him.  The prospect of not coaching college football in 2012 must have weighed heavily, not to mention the loss of some of his legacy.

Another thing to thank Jerry Sandusky for.....screwing kids and putting a legend in his grave . What a legacy !

Who's Joe paterno, a tennis coach or something?

When

I'm assuming your serious so I reposted the topic above with a video. You can watch it and get a good idea of who Joe Paterno was.

Well, I did know he had something to do with football and a scandal regarding  boys but that is about it. Thanks for the link.
