This last week, the Ludington Police Department proudly displayed on their Facebook page a link to a video on the Learning to Give website that featured School Resource Officer Austin Morris:

In the Open the door to your local PD, the Learning to Give website portrays local police in a positive light and allows Officer Morris to explain what they do:

In this brief video, we meet Austin Morris from Ludington Police Department. Officer Morris introduces us to a few of the many services provided by a police department and tells what volunteers can do to help.

It is somewhat of an odd coincidence that Morris' time in the spotlight comes just after he seems to have committed perjury on a search warrant affidavit in the performance of his duties as a school resource officer.  Another ironic twist arises when we look at the rest of the "Learning to Give" curriculum.

When one looks at their issues we care about, one sees a lot of issues and their approach that seem to lean left:  social equity, environmental justice, transgenderism, globalism etc.  Delving further into the L2G curriculum we find a unit on Black Lives Matter.

While equating BLM as a non-violent social movement (despite there being at least 200 violent demonstrations involving BLM in the summer of 2020 alone) they note:  "The BLM organization calls for police accountability and anti-police brutality; yet they are often described as anti-police, which they denounce such description."

A portion of SRO Morris' video acknowledges that police can look kinda scary and be grumpy at times

The BLM website seems to dispute this, being among the first to float the proposition to Defund the Police, with one of their founders writing in an ACLU opinion blog:  "We need to de-prioritize law enforcement — and cutting funding is a good start. Lawmakers should divert funding for police departments and put it to better use in community-led initiatives."

No better authority than Joe Biden, vice-president back in 2016, acknowledged“Look what (President Barack Obama) said when the Black Lives Matter people in one demonstration said, ‘kill the police, the sooner the better,’ or some phrase like that. The President condemned it immediately."  Or how about this organized 2014 BLM protest answering what they want, and what they want now:

Their answer is "Dead cops", so they can "fry them like bacon".  The BLM protests were about as civil over the last couple years.

So, in the "Learning to Give" curricula we see an acknowledgment of police, with a brief, modest video statement from School Resource Officer Morris (who should be a poster boy for police accountability issues) and also see a grand justification of why BLM is a valuable part of our community, when their ultimate goals are to either defund or destroy the police.  Unfortunately, neither BLM or SRO Morris are held to account for their past actions.

Just wondering where this mind-boggling babble doing more good for the community originated. Yes, in theory it sounds good, but on the other hand it sounds like the editor grade school teacher is grasping for straws and looking for Grant's and donations to make herself a job (read her Linkdin?) To include Austin Morris as any kind of role model makes me suspicious of the organization's motivations. Just my opinion.

Something I hadn't noticed about the L2G foundation until I looked up Ms. Peterson's role in the group.  On this page we see the following statement under 'Staff', a mission statement if you will:

"Learning to Give staff is dedicated to maintaining carefully constructed teaching resources that guide teachers and students to learn the traits of generosity, service, civic action, and revolutionary change."

This phrase is repeated about 'staff' in several other sections too, without explaining what their version of revolutionary change is.  One can get a general idea of what it might entail with their glowing appraisals of Bernie Sanders and the many pillars of socialism.

Excellent post X and good observations by all. This topic hits at the Leftists, Marxists and Communist and their agenda to infiltrate schools and our children's minds. If anyone has any doubts just educate yourself on how the academic world has sunk into the muck and is trying to take our children with them. From transgenders in girls locker rooms to Common Core to declaring concerned parents as terrorists. This is a battle for our future and the left is using the education of children by teaching them twisted ideology. I used to watch all the science programs no matter what the subject. It could be a show about dirt or pigeons crapping on passers by, They don't interest me anymore because every single show has the same message, climate change. No matter what the topic of the show is, it always has to involve damage to the Earth by humans and we're all going to die if we don't stop our use of oil and start driving wind powered electric cars. Also,if we don't correct our mistakes soon with some kind of geoengineering it will be mass destruction for the planet.

I have to say that the Left has done an  incredible job of  lying and twisting the truth while causing so many feeble minded people to believe anything they say, such as Black Lives Matters. For all of you riding the fence on these issues, just remember what's at stake.

As Baruch Spinoza would say:  "Freedom is absolutely necessary for the progress in science and the liberal arts."

This is why you generally see the best advancements in science, artwork, and literature come from societies that are the most free.  Progressives/Leftists corrupt science and use it as a tool for subjugation, witness how they first tried to coopt your freedom through wild assertions about climate change and how easy it was for them to segue to the same thing but stronger with medical science over the last two years.  When one of these people ask you to trust the science, they usually are just pushing their own faith-based bondage of the moment used to achieve their Utopic goals.
