OWS campers wearing out welcome at some churches

If all OWS protesters were respectful, their overall public image would be so much better. Instead, there are a good share of morons that will thanks to their actions, never give OWS a nice clean image. As they say, you reap what you sow... OWS is finding this out the hard way.

There’s no longer room at the inn at a Manhattan church that’s sheltering Occupy Wall Streeters after a holy vessel disappeared from the altar last week.

When the Rev. Bob Brashear prepared for Sunday services at West Park Presbyterian Church on West 86th Street, he noticed parts of the bronze baptismal font were gone.

In a fire-and-brimstone message to occupiers later that day, he thundered, “It was like pissing on the 99 percent.”

In Brooklyn, at another church housing OWS protesters, an occupier urinated on a cross, according to Rabbi Chaim Gruber, who has angrily abandoned the OWS movement.

In a letter last week to OWS obtained by The Post, the rabbi fumed, “The Park Slope church housing occupiers was desecrated when an occupier peed inside the building and the pee came into contact with a cross.”

The pastor of the church did not return calls.

At West Park, Rev. Brashear walked into the church for a morning service to find the 18-inch-diameter bronze basin and lid missing from the baptismal font’s 800-pound base. Holy water — straight from the River Jordan — had been poured from the missing basin insert into the base’s bowl.

About 60 occupiers had rolled out their sleeping bags between the pews the night before as part of their evening ritual, Rev. Brashear recalled. When they returned to the church later, following the pastor’s discovery, he issued a stern warning: “You have 24 hours to find it and to come up with an amends and to come up with a plan. ‘I’m sorry and it won’t happen again’ won’t work,” he scolded.

The artifact vanished just three weeks after a $2,400 Apple MacBook vanished from Brashear’s office. He told the occupiers that even when the 100-year-old Upper West Side church extended help to addicts during the 1980s drug scourge, no visitors touched its $12,500 sacramental instrument.

“Not even crackheads messed with that,” he said.

The pastor and a worshipper finally found the missing basin tossed into a small room connected to the church. The lid is still missing. The pastor has given protesters two weeks to vacate the church.

And 50% of the 99% don't pay taxes to boot and I bet most of the 50% get an earned imcome tax credit check from the Government for not paying any taxes. So much silliness and stupidity. If I were a member of that church I would be so teed off at that pastor for letting those freeloaders take over the church. It's amazing how Obama has so many foolish people who listen to him and believe him. I think we will see these misguided fools back in the parks this spring.

Shouldn't the truly homeless and homeless families be given access to these places to stay. many of the OWS people surely have homes to go to and don't desperately need somewhere in the city to stay. Even if they don't care for there homes due to 'the man' owning them (parents perhaps)there are many others truly in desperate need a warm shelter in that city who would not desecrate the place they were freely allowed to stay.

When

That is a good point. Why doesn't that pastor let the homeless stay in the church instead of political protesters? Probably because he's really not into doing "God's" work, only trying to grab some attention and drum up business for his church. I wonder what Jesus would have said to people who complain about living in the best and most generous Country in the World and a pastor that would politicize his church for a misguided and  moronic cause while ignoring the freezing homeless.

A little more new news on the OWS.. seems their more recent news appearances haven't been so good. Its really to bad they don't actually represent the 99% like they say they do.. they of course never did.. they are just like every other political action group, just looking out for themselves.

Occupy Wall Street Is Giving Up Its Office

It always did seem a little out of character for Occupy Wall Street to have an office space, especially one in the Financial District with a receptionist at the front desk and an express elevator, but now after a complaint about people illegally sleeping in the space, the protesters are packing up. "We’re moving out by the end of the month. I think there’s a chance some people will stick around, but for the most part we’re closing up shop," spokesman Patrick Bruner said on Monday.

An anonymous complaint was lodged with the New York Department of Buildings on Jan. 7. It says: "A cult community, four or five people are using the 12 floor as a residence illegally, using tents and sleeping bags," and it lists the space as an "illegal conversion [of a] commercial building / space to dwelling units." More recently, the building's management told the Occupiers to restrict their use of the office, reportedly limiting its occupancy to 18 people.

Occupy organizers told The Wall Street Journal on Saturday that they weren't sleeping there, and when we visited earlier in January we saw no tents or sleeping bags. (Also the office is indoors, like a normal office, so it would seem odd if they used tents). "The building's management has asked them to curtail their activities, allowing in only essential staff while the Buildings Department investigates," The Journal reported.

The move will not have any impact on Occupy Wall Street's finances as the rent is being paid for by an anonymous donor. Occupy's accounting working group is still using the office, but accounting organizer Haywood Carey said he didn't want to comment on the issue until he got "official word" on the office's future from the donor, the building management, and the affinity group that organizes Occupy's use of the space.

So where will Occupy go? "Right now people are doing a lot of stuff at the Center for Constitutional Rights," Bruner said. "We have a lot of allies, so I think we’ll be able to find a place where we can work, or a few places."

The Occupy movements seem to be mostly disjoint and consisting of rebels without much of a cause or clue.  But I am keeping some tabs on the Occcupy Austin movement, down in Texas.  They are effectively laying siege to the Austin City Hall, and the City Hall beginning in October has banned dozens of people from City Hall-- and some of them have filed federal lawsuits against the City.  It will be instructive to see how they fare in the courts.

But most of these guys are actually camping on the Austin City Hall steps, not making FOIA requests from their computer.

So did they create a new LOT ordinance and then hand out letters? lol

They did ban quite a few from the City Hall for a year by reason of their trespassing onto the property after passing an ordinance in a non-secret manner.  They also apparently have an actual appeal process to be able to get their right re-instated.

Unlike my case, it appears they had some due process, some rationale for the bans, some actual nods to first amendment rights and some limits to the ban's limit.  Here's a link:  http://austin.ynn.com/content/282090/occupy-austin-faces-off-agains...

These silly fools have no idea what they are protesting or why. I heard one reason being financial inequity. Really? How long can the Government keep taking from the %51 who pay taxes to pamper the %49 of the people who don't pay taxes? The people around the World who are really struggling against tyranny and dictators are scratching their heads wondering what is wrong with these foolish Americans protesting in the most free and generous country on Earth. I guess there's just a class of people who can't figure things out and want to blame someone else for their stupidity.
