Spiritual Perspectives on Government and the Governed

I don't generally go to church all that often, but I know several people that do, and I occasionally get invited to go with them. Such was the case this morning when I was cajoled into attending a local church. I have a couple of court dates this week fighting some actions and inactions by our local county government, so I was distracted a little through the very well-delivered sermon by the pastor and visiting speaker by a revelation I made early this morning on a comparison/analogy of Christianity and politics and how several things talked about mirrored my original thought.

A mention of Psalms 1:1 may have triggered this. Those unfamiliar with that verse, as I was before today, has it saying: "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly." I originally thought they referred to "council" and that reminded me of the Council of the Ungodly I have had to deal with over the last few years; the Ludington City Council and their ilk. "Counsel" is what they have used to get their aims up to now, their Manistee Law Firm that serves with the power of the singular Ludington City Attorney. Either way, I consider myself a blessed man thanks to this verse. I reference God and Jesus herein, hopefully in a way that does not ruffle any feathers.

Modern political orthodoxy has public bodies of the State ('State' will from here on be used to denote any public entity/servant) being the ultimate authority (much like God) over the decisions that influence common people. Unlike the usual representation of God, however, governments at each level are continually adding new commandments (laws) that restrict the free will (liberties/rights) of the people. Ideally, it is supposed to be the other way around that the State is supposed to look to the people for guidance, live according to the dictates of the people (and established laws/guidelines), and pray for the support of the people. But that's not where the similarities end.

1) Service: State officials are called public 'servants', denoting a certain humility they should display in carrying out their duties to the public that pay their salaries. This humility has turned mainly into arrogance at all levels of government, and currently most people defer their liberties to any government authority with little fight. The common people serve the State nowadays.

2) Oaths: To work for the State an Oath of Office is generally required, even if it's a menial term of employment. A recent Torch project checked out local governments along the lakeshore and found there were many high officials who failed to take such oaths. Oaths are made in church to show your willingness and faith to do what you swear to do in improving yourself or ridding you of sin. No oaths are a sign that you are not willing to do your part in securing the benefits you receive as a servant to your master, whether it be God, or the people you serve as an agent of the State.

3) Worship: Worship is effectively 'worth-ship', the amount of worth you assign to God. If you're worship is high you hold God high. State officials should worship the people that grant them the money and power and which they serve, but very few officials do just that nowadays. Conversely, they expect unreasonable respect and worship from those they serve.

4) Shepherds/Sheep: God is generally portrayed as a shepherd, leading his sheep to greener pastures. The people should also be like a shepherd, helping the State let everyone achieve their full potential. Officials can infringe on the rights of people by giving themselves more power, a situation becoming too frequent when the people are distracted or apathetic.

But officials of the State are not sheep, they are more like cattle which need to be driven, not led, and will not move for the people unless prodded. Furthermore, every day new intrusive rules and regulations make the transition of the people from being the shepherd to being the sheep in the relationship.

5) Jesus: According to the Bible, God (ideally, the electorate) sent Jesus to mankind as a Messiah for his human servants (State officials). But when the common people are truly godlike, such a savior is not needed. A Jesus figure is needed only when the roles reverse, that is when officials of the State become Gods and the people become subservient to them.

Sam Adams, Napoleon, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Ronald Reagan, and ML King were political-Jesuses, normal people with ideas that turned the political landscape back to a more natural order by hanging out with and getting the basis of their 'power' from other regular, common people. Then attempting to raise the rights of people and/or lower the power of the State. These figures all have one thing in common, they believe in the inherent rights of the people over the artificial powers of the State.

But the State persecutes them so as to make them unsympathetic to the rest of the people if they look to succeed. This is one reason why no truly anti-State (libertarian) candidate is given a fair shake by the State (when its goal is money and power) and any media that the State has control over. Truly they are crucified for their beliefs and for the dangers they present to the corrupted State, whose goals are to expand, not contract. Just like Jesus, a libertarian just like his dad.

Mark 14:55- And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.

Yet they found a way to remove a threat. When public officials say they are trying to do something for you, it is more likely they are trying to do something to you, such as increase your taxes or restrict your rights further. Be a doubting Thomas when listening to the gospel of the State

I found out this morning that one of my court cases, the Motion to Dismiss (regarding issues involving my bicycle traffic ticket of 2008) has been pushed back to March 20th by request of the City.  One must have the patience of Job to deal with these clowns.

Requesting an adjournment and/or rescheduling of a well known in advance court hearing the last minute, usually has to qualify with approval from both parties, defendant and plaintiff. Did you not have issue with this delay, and if so, why didn't you say so to the court in formal fashion? Afterall, this has already been on a delayed stance for several months as it is, and as plaintiff, you had the absolute right to ask the schedule for this hearing to be held now, unless or until the defendant, City, had a fantastic excuse that could not be ignored for the continuance. Did THEY? If so, what was it? They just didn't say we want to delay, they should by all means have a very important reason for the court to grant this, usually the judge wants to get hearings heard, and move on with other incoming business to the court, which is piling everyday. Unless he is in collusion to continue the matter for the city's advantage or pleasure. If that be the case, he must be disqualified as bias. Curious to the answer on this now. Thanks.

This is a recurring theme in the incredibly inept administration of the 79th District Court.  Magistrate Patricia Baker has made so many screw ups in the court rules and state laws in this whole process, it is no surprise she has no valid Oath of Office filed with the County Clerk.  I originally had a court date on October 22, 2008 and was informed by phone early that same day that the officer would be on vacation, and they moved the case to November 7.

I expect a lot of nonsense to arrive in the mail on this motion from the City of Ludington on this four year old issue to continue their campaign of harass-smear-intimidate that they have waged all along.  I'm in it to win it, and I will.  And my mouthpiece will be there playing the part of a real lawyer, not some faux lawyer like me (or any from GWSH).

Judge Wadel is to judge this issue, but Magistrate Baker is administering the mess before it gets to court.  I have no reason to believe from her actions throughout she is anything other than incompetent, unethical, and biased.  I have no indication Hon. Judge Wadel has any bias beyond whatever he hears bad about me in the hall of justice he serves, but we will see what will be when the rubber finally hits the road.

Creative topic X. That's a good name to give to His Highness George III, "Fauxedup Lawyer".

I have to assume, from the info now, that your attorney is in charge here on this particular case. However, I would presume he is also interested in progressing in an efficient and expeditious manner, and as far as getting speedy/expeditious, this is just silly, and so over the top nonsense, that it makes a person wonder, wth is holding things up? How many more roadblocks are going to be created, as have been up to this point already? How long is your attorney going to put up with this? Is he cogent/alive/or just wanting to put more hours on the books for the usual sake of survival as most attorneys are? Sounds like you'd be better off to represent yourself, if at long last, he has lost favor and vigor for your cause. Ahhh, siesta time, snores out loud.

My attorney may seem to be acting slow, but he can afford to on this motion, as a "fraud on the court" throws out all statutes of limitations.  His methodical behaviors have got me antsy, but I appreciate his own independent findings on this issue, and his reputation as someone who will fight such battles in the Mason County court systems.

My skills at lawyerless appeals for FOIA denials has been sorely tested by mundane issues of Michigan Court Rules, a bulky document with a variety of recipes for the instruments of justice.

Today, I had a FOIA appeal in Hon. Judge Cooper's court with the County, and effectively had it thrown out, at least for now, because I had served the County Clerk with the Summons and Complaint instead of having someone else serve it to them and sign the proof of service.  Still I was in court with Prosecutor Spaniola as the defendant for about 1.5 hours discussing FOIA and other issues with the Judge, and until it was shot down on this technicality, I definitely had the edge on the other legal issues, and if the County doesn't cooperate further, I just may be in for more here.

I hate to say it, Willy, but my mind had got totally distracted from the sermons when I was trying to establish those esoteric links you generously call 'creative'.  Maybe it was the Holy Ghost trying to give me some support for my battling of the Goliaths from City Hall.

A group made up of George Saylor III and John Shay ("Jorge Shaylor"?) haphazardly also showed up today at the Courthouse at the exact same time my hearing with the County was to start.  We spent over a half hour mediating our FOIA dispute before the injunctive hearing began.  Apparently they didn't need to be served a notice to find that out.  I will be publishing more on this later.

Technicality indeed, and look who's coming to court like wolves for a feast of more vanity and self-ego boosting, your buddy Shyster Shay. Now he can report back to Hendy/Barney of their warped successes, and how they will conspire into the near and far future, if you don't throw in the towel. Becoming an insane mystery, wrapped in an enigma, rocketing into the abyss. With the taxpayers paying the burden for this excessive exercise in vanity, and warped agendas. Furthermore, bringing the legal system to an exercise in pure futility, and warping it's foundations to the will of the system created to never lose, irregardless of the true legality of it all.
