America is under seige by progressives, communists and Marxists. They want to eliminate borders while trying to eliminate Trump as well. Now the Electoral College is under attack. An attack that started some years ago with the establishment of the National popular vote movement. I hope American ciizens wake up and soon or it will be all over and we will stop being a Republic and will be turned into a socialist state. The following videos explain the problems that awaits our Country.

The way I see it, if you are not smart enough to know how the electoral system works then you don't deserve to win if it bites you in the butt. Hillary should of been well aware how things work given that she went through 2 presidential elections with her creeper husband and was in 2 more election runs on her own. They say she was the most experienced... apparently she didn't learn much.

Frankly, our type of government system balancing state and federal power can only logically work during presidential elections if you have some form of system that considers the popular vote of each state separately and assigning some value to winning that state based on population relative to other states.  The formula for doing that could perhaps come into play if it's determined unfair for some reason.

The current primary and caucus system that chooses each party's candidate, would also find itself dismantled, a system which is potentially worthy of criticism since Iowa and New Hampshire residents get an inordinate amount of power to select the next leaders.  Yet, while that is worthy of more serious review, the electoral college should remain.  After all, if the politics of states shift, one of these days Democrats may find themselves winning the presidency through the electoral college while having a minority of the popular vote.  Will they still want to change things then?

I've often thought of the pure genius of America's governmental creation. There is a  balancing act between tyranny and democracy.  A Democratic Republic was the best choice to provide that balance. The Bill of Rights, the  3 branches of Government and the electoral college creations have been a beacon of sanity in a mostly tyrannical World.

Even with the electoral college, elections are still skewed to a degree. Consider the states of California and New York, realistically these 2 states will tend to vote democratic in pretty much every presidential election, at least in the last several years. With just those 2 states the presidential candidate is essentially assured of almost a 1/3 of the electoral votes needed with hardly having to do anything. Thankfully though, candidates still have to go out and work to garner those votes in the states that only have 2 or 4 or 5 votes because at the end you might need those votes if its close.

Very true Dave. The founders could only see so far into the future and they were not seeing any further than the Mississippi River.

I don't think they had any idea how this would all turn out. But they did a pretty darn good job with the information and knowledge they had. It's amazing to think that not to long ago, California was a conservative stronghold. When I argue with people who want to change our system of Government, I ask them what type of Government would be better. They rarely have an answer. Sometimes I think people just want change no matter what it is and give no thought to the consequences.
