The City of Ludington Daily News (COLDNews) put this out today concerning an altercation that occurred between two correction officers: Corrections officer charged with assault for Oct. 21 incident at Ma...
'A Mason County corrections officer was charged with simple assault following an Oct. 21 incident at the Mason County Jail involving another Mason County corrections officer.
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office announced late Wednesday morning that a warrant was issued for the corrections officer following an investigation into the incident by the Michigan Sheriff’s Association Missions Team. The results of the investigation were then turned over to the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office and the warrant was issued.
The deputy facing the charge has been on administrative leave pending the disposition of the case, the MCSO reported.
The MCSO said Wednesday morning that no information about the incident will be available."
(Emphasized in bold-face print for your easier detection)
Two Mason County Correction Officers, presumably both working at the Mason County jail at the time of the altercation and on their job have some sort of conflict where one believes the other has assaulted him/her. Two public officials paid by public money, at a public facility paid for with public money, have a public altercation that will take public money to investigate, that will likely be funded by the public on both ends for the prosecution and defense of the two officers-- and exactly no information other than the incomplete sketch drawn above will be available to the public.
This is Mason County transparency, as exemplified by the Sheriff's Office, the Prosecutor's office, and our biggest municipal corporation, the City of Ludington.

You are mistaken. It isn't "loyalty" toward X, it is agreement with his ideals and cause.
I do not call for people to openly support me, particularly since I doubt whether anyone agrees with everything I flap my lips on. Awareness is always what I have strived for since getting on the websites back in 2009, and I would love to be anonymous and let the facts speak for themselves. Let more people discuss the issues from either side, and figure out for themselves what is best.
I actually eschew most public support; the more people who come out and support me publicly will get similar public treatment I received from the local public bodies. In general, that is not necessary. One of the first things I tell people that contact me, agree with me, and want to help me (the list is surprising and growing), is to keep their distance from me in public. I am an activist, not an organizer, and becoming a target of the powerful is not good for most career oriented people and their family/businesses. When the time is right, these people will come forward their own way.

How do you know who is at the Council meetings? You have no idea if I am there or not. And I don't see you there. If you disagree so much with X why aren't you standing up at the meetings sticking up for the Council? Instead of posting here, why aren't you showing your support for the Council, Shay and Mayor for all of their illegal activity by telling them publicly they are doing the right thing by breaking the law. Let me know when you go so I can see you backing up your principals on television.
Both Bob Hannah and Wallace Cain have gotten up on multiple occasions during public comment to complain about me wasting taxpayers' money (even though I have no control over any tax money disbursements) and/or exploiting or threatening public officials through FOIA and OMA, as if that makes sense.
Problem was, they (particularly Bob) strayed from what public comment is for, and used it to attack an individual who is not even a public official. But these two guys are public officials themselves, even though they never explicitly say so. So for whom are they talking for: themselves or their employer?
Their employers really love their performances; it leaves less of the dirty work for them at the end of the meeting. But even if my public comment antagonists were actual people without the City of Ludington supplied T-shirts, paychecks, and uniforms, I doubt whether they would come forth with any salient defense of the City's actions over the last few years, and just more of the same personal attacks, most lacking any foundation in reality.
It's simply amazing how many newbies choose to join this forum, then right off the bat, start hurling insults and assumptions that aren't nearly there for the record. Art, I know it may be hard, but do try to look back at the last 1-4 years of archives of threads and posts to know wth you are talking about, "before you post anymore"! Thanks. Did anyone get charged yet in this incident? I didn't see Angie post yet either. I think the bottom line is Sheriff Cole said he was running for office to get the crew at MCSO more cohesive and team oriented. Although this is an isolated incident, it sure doesn't sound like progress in this area is being achieved. Also, since all these officers are supposed to be acting legally themselves, how does a fight occur right in their own confines? Couldn't they take it outside after work hours? Or elsewhere out of town?
