Safe Setbacks and Whirling Blades: A Lesson to be Learned?

While traveling by my favorite conveyance last Sunday on South Stiles Road in Riverton County, I noticed they had recently mowed the grass shoulder of that road.  That area is the main battleground between those who wholeheartedly accept the proposed wind project and those who want to have safe setbacks of property and roads.  I passed by the old Riverton School, and noticed the owner there had two "We Want Safe Setbacks" signs, placed well away from the road:

 

 

Meanwhile further down the road, less than a mile away there was a sign of mayhem, as no less than three other signs had been mangled by the roadside mower cutting the grass along the shoulder with its whirling blades of flora destruction.  Apparently, they had not been set back far enough from the road to avoid getting lacerated by the mower.  These signs all said that they supported onshore wind farms-- irregardless of what the setbacks were. 

 

 

I think there may be a lesson to be learned here

I just bougth a Trek 800 at a yardsale today(girls) for DH since he sold his Rockhopper :( Last year.

 

I loved that Specialized Y-frame with all the suspensions better than my Giant, but Now he has a bike to ride again since my kid just got herself a new 24" (up from 20")

Trek has traditionally had quality bikes at reasonable prices for both mountain and road uses.  Giant isn't no slouch either.

I'd say from the pictures here, it's not hard to guess where the mowing guy's favoritism is on this subject.............or maybe he's another blind county road comm. worker....lol.

The intact sign was not in the right-of-way where the mower would go.

The Lawnmower guy's politics may have figured into the mix, but in my sojourns, the only signs I have seen shredded by the mower are the pro-winders signs. 

And it is primarily because they do not set them back far enough from the road, as Eye observes, to be in a safe zone-- at least at places where the road mowers do their job.  The shredded signs could have very well been hidden by the grass and definitely in the wrong place for their own safety.
