Wow. I know I can not post it in LT, but thought you'd be interested. Names are included in this brief. I can not comment any further, just shake my head and ask "can it be real?"

Well, I contacted the News Advocate by E-mail Sunday night, and the Warden via snail mail yesterday, and now I'm waiting. I also visited the State Dept. of Corrections and verified that Mumaugh is indeed a prisoner there.
Attachments:
I hope the warden is not a party to prisoner abuse. I would hate to think of the repercussions against the prisoner.
I think the prisoner is already getting repercussions. Makes one wonder huh? How long has Fink been allowed to get away with this?
makes you wounder about the lost gun that they found later, who was to get it?
What are those repercussion you are talking about?
And prisoners don't lie? Inmate Mumaugh really does not care about his family if he did he would not have done the crime right? The Correctional officer must be guility right? Inmate Mumaugh says he is but no other inmate is stepping forward to back his story.
To answer your questions:
1) Yes, quite often.
2) I doubt whether we could make that assumption. I do know that most people care about their children, and his narrative, true or not, seems to indicate that.
3) No.

MuMaugh does not strike me as a very good person because of his rap sheet, but should his daughters have to pay for his misdeeds-- if his story has some truth to it?
Lets be honest about this whole story that Mumaugh wrote everyone in the system is out to get him they all worked together to get him, don't believe me just ask him. One person found him guilty put him in jail another would not feed him, another found him guilty of putting his hands on the C.O., another provided information on his family and last but not least the warden does not care.

This guy would not be here if he was even a half way decent man, he is in a max for a reason and that is because he keeps getting into trouble for one reason or another but I will bet he will say he has been railroaded by the guards!
Stan, according to you:
1) What rights does a prisoner have?
2) Is there any chance there could be a grain of truth to his story, or does his status make him totally unbelievable?
3) If MuMaugh's witnesses back up his story or videotape backs it up, do you think Officer Fink should be reprimanded for his actions? Why or why not?
I think what we're dealing with here X, is Stans inability to clearly communicate. Obviously, he has inside knowledge as part of the MDOC system, and has his own bias. But, maybe it's warranted. He did say MuMaugh's a DUI prisoner, not a murderer. So why be in a max. security facility? Sounds like there is blame to go around maybe on both sides. However so, that doesn't give any guard or anyone else in authority the right to threaten raping the prisoners daughters. If that is true in any shape, way, or form, and becomes eventually backed up by witnesses, Mr. Fink needs to be fired. Then put on trial and incarcerated too.
Once again the C/O suppose to have told the entire living area of Mumough about him, so why has no one came forward? Thoughts to ponder on... But once again you are stating your bias, that officer has not been found guilty of anything. If he had a record of such doings the people in charge sure would not have put him back in charge of this inmate.

My own hunch would be is that the inmate has a habit of throwing false charges around or it would have been taken care of. Believe me when I say the people in charge have no reason not to lay it to the officer on the line for any charges laid on his door stop.
I know of situations in nursing homes where a patient was not believed because he was "not of sound mind". Yet part of the abuse was true...They put a spycam in the room and discovered the truth.

If I understand you correctly, you seem to believe that all c/o's are perfect? How about the ones arrested, tried and found guilty of "consensual sex" with inmates?

I also know from former c/o's that used to work there there are several c/o in the Manistee facility who abuse their power. Problem is no one dares speak up because of the abuse of power. In nursing homes I see patients and families afraid to speak up because they fear their caregivers. It happens in schools

I cannot quite believe your implication that every correctional officer there is perfect. I also wonder why I keep hearing Fink's name in a negative way from others in the area.

If there is even 1% of truth to it, I believe something needs to be done to decrease that abuse. Yes prisoners have committed crimes. Yes SOME are bad. But that is a minimum security prison. Most of those criminals are not hard core murderers.

I would think to prevent this possibility, MDOC would look at this accusation and block all access to private records-especially names and addresses of children-except by professionals who are not near the site.
