I think the new sheriff is playing politics. I read in the LDN that, OMG, there's mold in the jail. I know we've talked about this before but now the Sheriff's got the newspaper involved. He's definitely trying to drum up support for his need to have the County fork over tax dollars to clean up the jail. I don't think the Sheriff realizes that mold has been around for a billion years and that it's one of the easiest creations of nature to control. Mr. Sheriff, do some housecleaning once in a while and your mold problems will go away and if it comes back, do a some more cleaning and add a dehumidifier. I can see that the new Sheriff will have no remorse at spending as much of our money as he can get a hold of.

This looks like a bit bigger than just scrubbing

Leaks should have been pointed out when they were noticed and documented somewhere.  If it occurred during Fiers tenure he should be held to blame for it if he knew about it and did nothing.  This is the likely cause of the black mold after all, water damage to building materials.  Someone definitely ain't doing their job if they knew about it all that time and just grumbled about it.

Sam, I noticed your police training 101 didn't include handling the business end of a wrench or mop or recognizing leaks for what they are.  Many public service-unionized people have 100% knowledge of what their job description is and what they have been trained to do, and squeal when expected to do more.

How many sheriff deputies and corrections officers does it take to maintain their workplace? None, because they expect it to be magically done? or to pay an outside company to do it for them?

This is the problem with all the unionized employees in this country. They can't find ten minutes each workday to do some cleanup of their workplaces.

Most normal people like at a gas station or mcD's or a hair salon have to clean at the end of their shift. As should anyone in any job have to do some dusting, mopping, sweeping and scrubbing. But I guess 'guarding' people locked on the other side of bars and bullet proof glass is so difficult that they can't sweep the floor.

jane, Go spend one day in the jail. I dare you. Just ONE DAY. Then come back here and tell us if you were busy or not. you don't think they clean. OMG. they mop, dust, sweep. EVERYDAY. WOW.  Everyone wants to point fingers until they need an officer for something.. do you even know how and where mold starts?? LOOK it up. read about it.. REALLY???

YEAH Jane do it! I bet you wont

Thank you Mary

You are welcome sam

Mary, I spent three days in Mason County Jail for Civil Contempt in 2009.  The closest I came to working is shovelling three squares into my pie hole each day.  My civil punishment had me being sequestered from the general criminal population, but after being admitted, I seen only one corrections officer during my stay, and got out of my cell once.  The trustees were the only ones I seen doing work.

The Taser Twins (Davila and Wilson, pictured) could use an exercise program not involving running after citizens (like Joe McAdam) innocent of any crime, leg-sweeping them, and drive stunning them, as this recent picture of them illustrates.

I would tend to think they were busy and you were a low priority and they were busy with bad guys that needed their attention, unless you were that lonely and need constant supervision and entertainment, where you the only person in jail that day?

First of all Sgt Davila and Deputy Wilson DO NOT work in the jail what do they have to do with the mold? Plus I seriously do not believe you only saw ONE Correction Officer within three days. If that is true it had to of been 15 yrs ago when it was just the old jail and there were only 2 working at one time. So come on can't we all be honest adults here?

It's true; between the time I was first put in my cell and the time I was out-processed I made only one contact with a jailor.  Better yet, the accountants of the jail tried to charge me for my stay at their spa, not realizing that due to the civil nature of my offense I actually received credit each day I stayed there for the small amount of cash that Judge Raven unlawfully said I owed for a bicycle traffic violation and court costs.

You see, he had violated the law himself by judging my original case without receiving written permission from District Judge Wadel.  That is against Michigan Court rules.  Instead of admitting that fact later when he was called on it, he decided to throw me in jail for questioning his authority and never showing me the proof of his authority to adjudicate like he said he would.

Some judges that violate the law themselves don't get punished, they just throw their mistakes into the jail and go about their lives.  Kind of like some cops.

I just realized why you probably didn't see any officers while you were in jail. Because there is NO jailors who work there that's why u didn't see any. They are Correction Officers. Everyone of them are certified with the State of Michigan and have a degree. So if you ever go to jail anywhere and want a jailor. Good ,luck pal.
