I think the new sheriff is playing politics. I read in the LDN that, OMG, there's mold in the jail. I know we've talked about this before but now the Sheriff's got the newspaper involved. He's definitely trying to drum up support for his need to have the County fork over tax dollars to clean up the jail. I don't think the Sheriff realizes that mold has been around for a billion years and that it's one of the easiest creations of nature to control. Mr. Sheriff, do some housecleaning once in a while and your mold problems will go away and if it comes back, do a some more cleaning and add a dehumidifier. I can see that the new Sheriff will have no remorse at spending as much of our money as he can get a hold of.

The term I used was appropriate.  "Jailor" is a generic term meaning someone who guards prisoners or runs a jail.  It's kind of like calling a sanitation engineer a "garbageman", more descriptive and not so longish.  Understand?  Jailor = corrections officer, but with four less syllables.  Coincidentally, I only ran into one corrections officer too.

Mary

If they clean everyday then why is there still mold? Do they clean around it or refuse to clean it because they think they will turn into a spore. If your so familiar with the jail as you imply then post some photos of the "mold" so we can see exactly what the Sheriff is talking about.

OMG again read up on mold ppl. And where it starts. You can't always see it when it starts. REALLY?

Maybe X, when one of them see and read your posts on this they are all mopping or sweeping in your hour of need and cant make to your side to render the necessary help you require. Moreover if you read Marys post she says that they clean all day long. but I guess thats not to your standards so what ever you seem to have a handle on it. Why dont you ask how long the leaks have been known about and untill now who kept it quite

Sam re read what I wrote I did not say ALL DAY I said EVERYDAY. And I did not point any fingers. I said if you read up on it. It does not start right away. It develops over time. It came to the attention of Administration its been way over months.

Everyday? Wow so you know this first hand I'm taking it I'm sorry if I mis quoted you. It just seems that there are a lot of people on here that seem to know everything about everything. So if you are guving first hand accounts ill go with you and what you say. So what does a union Steward do there do they have an office and advise there or do they supervise the supervisors? So where is the mold at can you see it?

Union Stewarts are only in charge of the union when the contract come up to expire. Or the union needs to negotiations with the county. Or if any union members have any problems and want to file grievances. No they don't have their own office. And no they don't have anything to do with the supervision. They are just the head guy/girl when it comes to a union problem.

Mary is talking of the COs, so unless I have an hour of need inside the jail, they probably won't be by my side, you're right, Sam.  That last question is what I'd like to know... but nobody in the MCSO ever documents any of these things or let's the public know until they cry to the county board about something.  They just like to play the blame game, and Kim Cole seems to be the best at it.

Get arrested and find out. I'm sure u will get plenty of time. As does 100 other inmates. From 4 C/O'S. What kind of attention you want. Do u want them up your butt all the time? Holding your hand to go to the bathroom?  Sitting next to you for 12 hours while they are there?  How much and what type attention you asking for? You to scared of the other inmates. You need attention 24 hours. Not sure what you want here?

Mary,

Personally I would have been happy with not seeing any of those turnkeys during that period of incarceration, but you were the one telling us all that your jailor friends have no time to take care of anything else than what their normal duties are... and so I guess I was wondering what exactly they do that makes them not able to notice that the wall is wet and mold is growing, and then resume their duties, whatever they are.

What u don't understand. The officers can't just spend ,money because  they want too they need permission from the higher up. If they don't get the OK to get things fixed. It doesn't get fixed.

Is the sheriff's office that monolithic in thought that they cannot generate a course of action?  Cannot any employee make a suggestion to the adminstrative staff and have something looked into?  Cannot people bring these up at union meetings and then have them checked out?  Wouldn't there be some paper trail detailing problems from the past if anybody had any prior problems with mold or conditions that led up to mold growth?

I am hoping Sheriff Cole's motives are cleaner than the rooms in question, but I wonder why this has not been internally documented at all over the years.  From the 9&10 video, it looks as if the interior of the walls had been waterlogged for a while, even without water pipes around.
