In the July 27, 2020 minutes of the Finance & Personnel Committee, with City Councilors Brandy Miller, Joe Lenius and Les Johnson attending, a motion was put forth:

Moved by [Brandy] Miller, seconded by Lenius recommending City Council approve the resolution as presented. Motion carried. All agreed adopting the resolution will show the Councils support of the requirement to wear face coverings and feel the local businesses will greatly appreciate the Council’s action.

This resolution came before the full council later on that July evening, most of the public unaware of the resolution because it had been presented to a relative few in the council packet the prior Friday.  Before looking at what the resolution stated, let's direct your attention to the picture below taken at the groundbreaking of Lunacy Legacy Park on September 25th, just yesterday.   It shows Mayor Steve Miller, Community Development Director Heather Tykoski in front of him, and the aforementioned Councilor Brandy Miller.

All three are not wearing face coverings at this point, about 5 minutes before the event.  All three would eventually sport masks though, making one hope their pockets are properly sanitized.  Science has told us that coronavirus can't leap more than 5' 11", but it looks like these officials are standing within 6 feet of each other.  One can use various context clues to measure distances between them, but this author has the advantage of being there and looking at some of those context clues later on.  They were maybe 4 or 5 feet apart, but definitely not 6 feet.

The reason that's a big deal is because both Mayor and Councilor Millers were at both the committee and city council meeting where the below resolution (pictured with relevant parts) was debated and passed.  Brandy Miller moved for this resolution to be approved in committee and seconded the motion when it came before council.

The City's resolution has the effect of law to a degree, and we have to note that these three individuals are not of the same household and are each standing within the 6' radius circles of the other two.  Since they are not 'implementing their personal responsibility' willfully, law enforcement should be stepping in and notifying them of that fact.  Yet new LPD Chief Timothy Kozal was there the whole time and remained mute behind his mask while this lingered and others like this presented themselves, this picture was taken about three minutes after the first:

DDA member Chris Van Wyck (bearded and maskless) discusses things with ex-Mayor John Henderson (Brandy's dad) in the middle, while another less-than-six-feet-sided equilateral triangle of unmasked women (including Brandy Miller, DDA member Kathy McLean and another woman).

How can one respect this resolution passed by city officials when they themselves so brazenly break the law right in front of the city's top law enforcement official?

Very revealing, X. And not just the pre-camera capture of city officials without masks. I'm sure they must think you are the biggest thorn in their unified sides, and I'm surprised that they didn't put their masks on while you were there.

That John Henderson was present shows to me, this probably was his baby-project as president of the DDA as mayor and he may still be vested in it. While under his administration the sewer plant fell into disarray and was in violation of discharge permits. It would be interesting to do a study of how the city debt managed under his watch also. When a city mayor dedicates glamorous projects for the downtown and tourists at the expense of the rest of the city, imo, we have a problem. I would think the absence of Mitch Foster and the other Councilors had little to do with lack of support. I don't think they are independent enough thinkers to see the real way to a city's vitality, the whole picture, including the citizens. Until we have a cheer leading squad to stand up for the citizens, the city will continue to cater to the tourist and the parties supporting the businesses, squeezing the citizen and the hometown right out of their home town . Debt, deception, delirium, and drunkenness.

These people are the lunatics that give the name Lunacy a home.  They pass trash legislation like they are the Kings and Queens of Ludington. these people are the leftists who run the city. The fact is that when this stupid resolution was passed, not a single person in Mason county had died from Covid 19 and only 118 had been diagnosed with the virus.  State wide the rate of deaths and hospitalization has plummeted.
