FOX NEWS CHANNEL CANCELLED ON DISH NETWORK ON 12/20/14

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but I haven't been able to access Fox News in about 2 weeks now. I thought maybe it was some programming snafu at first. But now after 2 whole weeks, it appears it's not coming back? News has it that Dish Network did NOT RENEW some contract recently due to negotiations of monies breaking down. I don't know what the entire story is, but Fox News says it's Dish's fault for not renewing, and that they could have continued temporarily, as they had several times in recent years, without this black out. Fox News has been on the air 18 seasons, and has 24 hour news reporting, along with intense political shows such as Sean Hannity, The O'Reilly Factor, Greta VanSustern, and several other well noted shows that many millions rely on for in-depth fair and balanced reporting. Other news sources such as CNN seem to give the public a tainted propaganda type of broadcast that many viewers have turned away from over recent years. When or if Fox News returns remains to be seen. I just wonder if some negative political influences from on high in Washington, D.C. haven't pushed this scenario to it's current status. After all, didn't Obama state that Fox News was too biased and not factual many times? Didn't Obama also say that news broadcast stipulations were being considered to censor many shows that were declared to be anti-American or anti-establishment? While there are many other sources to gain news, Fox News has steadfastly remained rated a #1 channel for many of the last several years. I am hoping Fox News gets reinstated on the Dish Network asap. It's the most reliable source of news I have for many years, and I believe it's un-American for it to be cancelled like this. If the press is to be free in it's reporting per the US Constitution, why is this happening? And who is actually behind this? What do you think?

I waited this long for Dave, Willy, Shinblind, Stump, or even XLFD to start this discussion, but no one did. Does anyone else have Dish Network? Or did anyone else notice this black-out? Curious to know....hmmm.

Sorry, Aq, only about 1/7 of households have the Dish Network and so this blackout flew under my radar because I'm still catching Greta and Sheperd.

It's always hard to figure out these blackouts, it happened to CNN at Dish earlier this year (and few people probably noticed), and when it does happen Dish usually has their story and the other side has their story, and you can't generally figure out who's pulling the wool over your eyes because they don't talk openly about the negotiations in general.

Such is the case here, each side is publicly blaming the other for the blackout.

“It’s like we’re about to close on a house and the realtor is trying to make us buy a new car as well,” said Warren Schlichting, Dish Network’s senior vice president of programming, said in a statement. “Fox blacked out two of its news channels, using them as leverage to triple rates on sports and entertainment channels that are not in this contract.”

But Tim Carry, Fox News’ executive vice president of distribution, said that’s not how it happened.

“Fox News Channel did not disconnect Dish,” Carry said in a statement. “[R]ather, Dish prematurely ceased distribution of Fox News in an attempt to intimidate and sway our negotiations. It is unfortunate that the millions of Fox News viewers on Dish were used as pawns by their provider. Hopefully they will vote with their hard earned money and seek another one of our other valued distributors immediately.”

Must be local as it was on this morning, but I'm out of the state right now. Don't worry Aquaman, their still bashing Obama and blaming him for high insurance premiums.

Thanks for the input stump. Reporting Obama's many repeated actions of unconstitutional authority will remain headlines in many broadcasts, even if FOX News is blacked out. I just heard yesterday that Dish Network supported Obama's reelection campaign to the tune of $800,000 in contributions. I'm sure that figure is a lot more than any one year contract they have with Fox News continuing on the air. Therefore, I feel that Dish Network is strongly biased and may be in cahoots with Federal authorities that want this show censored or cancelled forever. There are also many other rumors about why this situation exists as it stands today. Naturally, Dish doesn't want the truth told, and many are leaving them for other alternatives in satellite TV. I can still listen to many other shows on the radio for free, but it's a violation of broadcast fairness and laws if Dish is intentionally blacking out these shows because of their political affiliations and beliefs. Anyone else know of the details beyond the propaganda we are being fed?

I don't have Dish Network so I wasn't aware of the problem.

There's an estimate that Dish has so far lost 90,000 customers because of this bonehead move...

I'm still with Dish for now. My favorite show on Fox News was Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld. HILARIOUS show! (And no, I don't stay up until 3AM to watch - I DVR it!) I really miss that show. Wonder if I can stream it from somewhere? Very close to cutting the cord (or is it dismantling the dish?) myself.

I like Red Eye as well but don't watch it very often as I don't stay up that late as much as I use to and I'm one of the few people in the world without a DVR these days.

Fox should be back on DIsh soon, I saw tonight that they have agreed to a new contract.

Quite right Dave, they were reinstated on programming as of this past Wednesday or so to my knowledge and satisfaction. I do believe I heard threats of censorship lawsuits being rumored just before this new revelation.

Well I'am sorry i didn't answer either about this Aquaman I to don't have Dish and won't have Dish ever again, I have cable all in one package tv, internet, and phone .  But I to do like to watch fox channel from time to time, I do watch CNN . But the is a nasty thing for Dish to do to them but Dish is noted to take money out of your bank accounts WITHOUT your premission also and then claim it has for some back bill you may or may not owe , and even if you know who have paid the bill and can proof it they don'r care they just do it to a lot of people, and they don't just take out 20.00 or 30.00 dollars they take out hundreds of dollars I, know some people they did this to, and dish got in trouble for it and had to pay it all back the mail corp. was invauld so my guess is their was a few people that wasn't to happy and maybe they lost some jobs i don't know but it was a big mess i hear.
