John Shay, Canned at Last!

Our long time Torch-bearers will recognize the name of John Shay, the man who served as Ludington city manager for 16 years between 2003 and 2018.  This corrupt villain snuck out of town four years ago to assume the deputy county administrator role down in Ottawa County, the seventh biggest county in Michigan, over ten times as large as Mason County.  Earlier this year he assumed the top role in that county when the county administrator moved on, he was selected over other challengers for the position.  

A major shift in the Ottawa County Commission happened this November, where several organized conservative candidates ousted some of the progressive seats that were uncharacteristic for what is a very red county.  The commission had an organizational meeting earlier today that lasted five hours.  More than halfway through, a late agenda item was added that surprised a lot of the assembled folks, 17 of whom spoke during the initial public comment.  They added the termination of John Shay in his role as county administrator in order to replace him with John Gibbs, a highly qualified conservative who ran for the old congressional seat of Peter Meijer and lost in the general election.

When the vote was eventually taken about 20 minutes later, Gibbs (pictured below) would get the nod while Shay (pictured above) would get the boot; the commission voted 6-3 for the change.

Shay would get up and leave the meeting at that point, content in the fact that he had over a year in severance pay about to head his way, and Gibbs would take the seat while it was still warm at nearly four hours into the meeting to thunderous applause (the chair had to call for order).  Before the agenda change it wasn't evident that the commission had planned for this action, but it appeared very popular.  The gentleman below was the only one in public comment who had an issue with Shay, saying that he was promoting a woke agenda and equity and taking the county in the wrong direction, away from success.

Ottawa County isn't exactly that diverse and in need of equity and wokeness, with less than 5% of the population being either Asian or black, but Shay was the GOVLOVE poster boy for equity and inclusion in Ottawa County:

If you didn't get the idea that this author has a negative impression of John Shay by calling him a corrupt villain in the first paragraph, I can only say that this guy withheld public records, committed public extortion, and a host of other crimes, including the unconstitutional banning of myself from city hall and the police department.  If that wasn't enough, he falsely libeled and slandered me multiple times in order to make himself look good and destroy my good name.  We should all applaud the new Ottawa County Commission for throwing this dastardly character to the curb.

The long meeting is in the video below.  They add the Shay termination at about the 3:34 mark and take only about 20 minutes to get out the long knives.  

Unfortunately, John Shay will likely get back on his feet with another city or county administrative position as the real reason why he was kicked out of the Ottawa County power chair is unlikely to ever be fully explained.  The ironic thing about his cancellation is that it appears equity has been served, as this crooked white guy lost his job to a qualified black guy.

I can't take more than a few minutes of this tripe, but thanks for sharing.  One of these days if I ever ingest something bad and need to induce vomiting, this would be the podcast to listen to.

The article above shows more of the ideology at controversy in Ottawa County (as everywhere).  The Ottawans rallied against the liberal proposals in their county and didn't let them take over.

Thanks for the post and link FS. Hats off to Ottawa County for not only recognizing the Leftist threats to their freedoms but the fact that they took such swift and decisive action to put their County back on the right track. This same kind of thinking has invaded Ludington and is trying to wrap it's twisted agenda around the necks of the citizens of Ludington.
