When I was growing up I was subject to quite a bit of ridicule as I was considered by my class mates to be a religious goody two shoes type of guy. Many times after a cruel set of comments from the children at school I would come home quite hurt. My mother would always use the saying sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me. No... it didn't make it all that much easier, but as I grew up and hearing those things made me grow up quicker I think. I learned to develop a thick skin. This is one of the first steps in developing self esteem I think. Not as the Liberals seem to teach, that we all get in a circle and kiss and make up and sue anyone who doesn't fit that happy happy joy joy world of make believe.  Enter the new way of education and therapy.

I think it was Aqua who has used the analogy of the Gieco Commercial where a drill sergeant tells a slightly special type guy maybe he should "chug on over to namby pamby land where maybe he can find some self esteem". Bullying cant not occur in a place where one has the back bone to slap a bully into next week.

At some point a particular social networking forum looked in text more like a group therapy session for mentally challenged people simply because they felt abused and hurt that some could not see their quite limited and non reality based point of view. They even went as far as to accuse a few of stalking simply because many could not accept the warped sense of reality a few represented, and challenged them on it. I again made a great target. but I guess I learned to have a thick skin. Many have not... I wonder who learned skills which will help them excel in life?

The same mentality that makes some think it is a real solution to have congress sit together on the night of the state of the union speech, Is not taking human nature into account here. Think back to the Last years state of union speech when a arrogant very liberal Obama called out the Supreme Court of the United States because it didn't serve up the verdict he thought it should in a case. Did he really feel like he had a father like high ground to scold persons who collectively had studied law 50 years before he needed diapers? The only reason they probably will show up this time around is they unlike Obama, Do know human nature and they do know the constitution which was written to allow for human nature.

Human nature can not only not be controlled by social changes, but to do so risks explosive push back to the attempts. Venting and anger is a natural part of learning to some degree and to not allow it or try to push it into some false sense of well being cant be healthy in my opinion. I learned how to handle a soldering iron only after throwing one a few times trying to settle into a job that was more finesse than brute force which was the norm for my time in the service.

Are there less violent outlets sometimes for frustration? Sure!! depending on who you are. Some people are very physical and simply run off their frustrations. Some have a mental type of relief and blog ( harshly I might add). In some schools they used to have debate clubs... I don't actually know if they still do, I think it may have been (phased out) as too emmm controversial?? My point here is we see on an increasing basis people on one side of the political spectrum trying to suppress another persons using the logic that less robust debate will make their ideas more palatable. I would think they could see that the opposite may just happen. Or is that the real intent not to truly work out a problem but to cause a crisis? THis is my ranting thought and I do welcome yours.

I was never on the Soup.  I politely asked to be on there a couple of times to participate in their discussions.  I was very publicly rebuffed due to my beliefs, which differed from theirs.  Yet they wish to portray themselves as a place to promote diversity, and a place where everyone is welcome

I did read some of the old drivel that attacked myself and Guido over there, before alot of it was eliminatedPure slander and bullying.  Yet no one has shown me a post of Guido's, or the main players here at the Torch, that comes close to being as bad as those were

I see where it's creator was "Booted" off LT last night, again, and again, for the same demeanor of lost temper tantrums that remain some two years later for him. Bullies get their just reward in the end, some learn and move forward, but far too many don't, and keep repeating the mistakes of the past. Then wonder why they are an outcast.

This flew under my radar the other day.  Guido, thank you for the insight into your past and your honest evaluations.  The philosophy we encourage here at the Ludington Torch is that we are all individuals, we all have different backgrounds, different viewpoints, different interests, different opinions.  That's what makes each of us unique.

We cherish those differences, because it heightens the enjoyment of our similarities when we find them.  Recent statist trends that try to create artificial similarities through policies are an enemy to all individuals.  This weakens us all.

Good question, makes a person wonder.
