At least there will be a few decent rock shows this summer

Looks like Summer Celebration down in Muskegon is getting some half way decent acts as part of their line up this year. Here is who they have on the line up so far, still a few acts to be announced:

ZZ Top, Thursday, June 24, 2010
Styx & Foreigner, Tuesday, June 29, 2010
O.A.R. & Four Finger Five, Wednesday, June 30, 2010
Papa Roach & Chevelle, Thursday, July 1, 2010

Toby Keith, Bucky Covington & Randy Houser will also be playing if your a country fan on Sunday, June 27, 2010

Hopefully the other acts they add will be decent as well... be nice if they added a decent 80's band to the lineup. Might have to hit one of these shows if I don't have to work.

What? No Hank Jr? or Kid Rock? or Skynerd? then there's the headbangers, Deep Purple, Edgar Winter, Dylan, Genesis, Police? Post that link please Dave when time permits. Thanks.
Genesis you probably wont see touring anytime soon... at least not with Phil Collins playing drums. Phil has had some physical problems that have basically caused him to not be able to hang on to much of anything. He could still sing but his drumming days are probably gone. Kid Rock would be a great pick up for Summer Celebration but I don't know if they could afford him. I'd love for them to have a few more rockers added to the line up though. I know at least one of the night will be for a more urban act... hip hop or rap type of artist and probably be a R & B night as well.

Anyway, here's the link to the Summer Celebration website:

I used to like both Styx and Foreigner, though they look a bit different nowadays. Do you know which one is the headliner of those two. They both seem to have about equal billing on the site, but who plays last? Are they touring together otherwise? Just curious.
They are touring together, most shows they also have Kansas playing as well... not sure why Kansas isn't with them for the Muskegon show unless they just forget to mention them. I'm under the assumption that both Foreigner and Styx will play 'headliner' length sets.. probably both about 90 minutes give or take. Looking at the summer celebration website, they seem to list the headliner last so i'm going to say that Foreigner is the band that will play last.. i'm not 100% on that though.
I remember Styx being popular in the 70s. One song in particular that was popular at parties was "Light Up". But weren't they also popular in the 80s, or did they lose their megastar status by then? ZZ Top was also popular in the 70s but I though they carried through into the 80s as well, and the 90s. They are still popular with me. The other ones, with the exception of Foreigner, I have never heard of.
Styx did fairly well through the early 80's and then kind of tapered off in popularity as the decade went on. ZZ Top has always had a decent following, I seen them in the late 90's playing down in Kalamazoo with Skynard... ended up sneaking into the show... lol.
I thought one of ZZ's top's all-time hits was in the early 90's, long-legged woman or something to that effect? Best dressed man? Anyhew, their album was in the top 5 after years of no releases, and the car, oh that car! And unsurpassed videos on MTV! I luv it when sneaks get into shows free, wish they'd take me with though. One act i'm going to assume you wont see on the bill is the Bret Michaels band. For those that haven't seen anything on the news in regards to Bret, he's had a very rough couple of weeks. About a week and a half ago he was rushed to the hospital because of his appendix which ended up coming out. He's diabetic so often there can be complications. Last week he again was in need of emergency surgery due to a brain hemorrhage. Of course the brain hemorrhage is much more serious and he's been in critical condition since. I have heard that he's awake and talking so helpfully the worst is behind him. I've met Bret many times over the years and find him to be one of the nicest people i've met in all my travels. Regardless of what you might see on TV, he is one of the most genuine people. He's never forgotten who helped get him to where he's at... he cares for his fans more so then a lot of musicians that reached his 'star status'. I've seen him many a night after a show where he will sit on the steps of his tour bus and get pictures and sign stuff for fans that didn't get backstage passes and waited around in hopes of maybe meeting a band member. On more then one occasion if there happened to be a fan that was in a wheelchair that was backstage, he would make sure they got information so that whenever Poison or his solo band come through town that they would be sure to get tickets/backstage without any trouble. Heck, he ever rented me a hotel room once at a ritzy hotel just so I could catch their next show that happened to be in their hometown.

Anyway, i'd like to ask that you say a quick prayer or wish him well and hope for a speedy recovery.... thanks!
Never heard of him, but he sounds like a great dude, he's on my prayer list. Thanks Dave.
You might know him better as the lead singer of the band Poison... suppose I should of mentioned that in my last post.. lol.

Anyhow, he's been on the TV show "Celebrity Apprentice" with Donald Trump the last several weeks. Haven't caught the show the last couple weeks but I believe he is still in the running.
WHAA?? You mean to tell us that you didn't watch 'Rock of Love' each season, OMG. What is happening to this world. That show was great.
