It sounds like the middle of a bad dance movie starring Kevin Bacon from the 1980s, but earlier this year a federal court ruled that the DC Park Police acted within the law when they

aggressively detained for five hours a woman wearing earphones and dancing non-intrusively at the Jefferson Memorial as part of a tribute to a president who most personifies the freedom of expression most Americans hold so dear.

To illustrate the idiocy of that decision, some dude named Adam Kokesh organized a dance party to be held at that memorial.  Often when Liberals or Libertarians make such a display, it just makes them look silly.  But most see this as an unjust law, and the reactions of the park police to this situation was... well, take a look at the video and judge for yourself:

I am not much of a dancer myself, but if Jefferson was around he might say:  "I disapprove of your dancing, but I will defend to the death your right to dance".  Or as Kevin Bacon might say:

I'd heard a little something about this but hadn't seen the video or anything until now. Its another fine example of how stupid things are getting.

It's a sorry state when police arrest people for dancing. Must have been a liberal judge who made the ruling.

I think it was more likely a socialist-friendly judge (which many liberals are), being that this was a freedom/libertarian cause.

Here's an update, an interview with the organizer of the dance party by my favorite judge outside of the excellent crop of constitutional judges in the Supreme Court (Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, and Alito).  The next party is scheduled for this upcoming week and is said to have 2000 freedom-loving people so far coming to honor the memory and ideals of Thomas Jefferson.  Keep it to the point, patriots.

Just one week later,

You can dance if you want to,

Bring your friends along.

Amen
