Poverty pimp Jesse Jackson hung up yesterday morning on Frank Beckman from WJR (Detroit) radio. They were discussing the Emergency Financial Manager appointed by the Governor to try to help Detroit get its finances in order. The financial well-being of its state's cities is a law in the Michigan Constitution.

Jackson came to The D to call for mass civil disobedience to protest Mr. Orr being given the overwhelming and difficult job to try to untangle the mess left by forty or fifty years of corrupt liberal democrats.

The mess in Detroit has been simmering and coming to a boil for decades. Michigan's previous governor, a leftist Democrat was not protested quite so much when this Emergency Financial Manager law was at her disposal.

In discussing bankruptcy vs. an emergency manager for Detroit, Beckman asked Jackson where he was while the leaders in Detroit were filling their pockets via corruption and cronyism--Jackson hung up on him.

BOOM! Just like that, Frank silences the "preacher of poverty" -- it was priceless. Audio is here: Poverty pimp Jesse Jackson just hung up on Frank Beckman from WJR (Detroit) radio.

That's priceless. Jessie Jackson hanging up on Frank Beckman. Although I disagree with most of what Jackson had to say I do agree that the State has no right to come into a city and tell the elected officials what to do. That's the job of the citizens.

At some point when it becomes obvious that the citizens for whatever reason can not elect people that will do the job right, you have to go to extreme measures. Detroit has suffered for decades, they can't wait much longer for help as bankruptcy is just around the corner. I don't have an issue with the Emergency Manager Law as long as its used sparingly and in situations like we see in Detroit.

It should be put to a vote. If the people of Detroit want the State to take over then they should decide not some State bureaucracy. The manager law is as close to dictatorial power as you can get. Overriding the peoples choice of who runs their Government is a bad thing.

If they do that though, they would never approve it and nothing changes.... Detroit continues to go in the crapper.

The health of Detroit does affect the health of the whole state, however.  The state allows through the Home Rule City Act for local areas to set up their own governments.  If a city violates state laws repeatedly, and makes themselves a liability to the state by being a money pit for the rest of the State, our state government has a duty to do something.

I would agree with you a vote should take place, but I think it should be a statewide vote, with the Emergency Financial Manager(s) known beforehand.

I am surprised that Reverend Jess-uh would even talk with Frank Beckman because Frank is more of a Libertarian/Conservative type that wouldn't say "Amen" after every response, like the softball interviews Jackson prefers.  Why hasn't he been showing up at Detroit City Council meetings during the time the City needed something other than corruption and people claiming the "victim" mantle?

Oh, yeah, that latter is part of his schtick.  It's nice to see he's running quicker than Rev. Al Sharpton nowadays.

JJ had to make himself revelant again. Seeing as how junior has been stealing the spotlite lately

You're funny easy, but truthful...lol. JJ likes to stir the pot to get publicity, and make trouble, his usual motives in life. As for acting and getting involved to make things better, that's just not his thing.
