MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — A mid-Michigan bank branch manager faces charges after a camera was found in an employee-only restroom.

David Prawdzik is charged with capturing/distributing an image of an unclothed person, tampering with evidence, eavesdropping and using a computer to commit a crime.

Prawdzik was the branch manager of the Chemical Bank on Pickard Street in Mt. Pleasant.

Police were called Thursday to the branch after an employee found a camera in a toilet paper roll behind a restroom stall. Police say the camera was taken to the manager who then tried to destroy it.

Prawdzik, of Clare, was later arrested and was being held in the Isabella County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

A 55-year-old Clare man who managed a Chemical Bank branch in Mt. Pleasant expressed sorrow during his arraignment Friday for allegedly photographing female employees in a work bathroom.

Isabella Country Trial Magistrate Sandra Straus warned David Thomas Prawdzik (above) not to incriminate himself during the arraignment, where Prawdzik paused briefly before saying that he is unemployed.

When asked when and where he was last employed, Prawdzik said he had worked for 33 years at Chemical Bank and that he likely would no longer be employed there “after today.”

Isabella County Prosecutor Risa Scully charged Prawdzik Friday with capturing/distributing an image of an unclothed person, a five-year felony that requires sex offender registry if convicted; tampering with evidence, a four-year felony; surveilling an unclothed person, a two-year felony that also puts defendants on Sex Offender Registration Act notice; installing/using an eavesdropping device, a two-year felony; and using a computer to commit a crime, a one-year misdemeanor.

Straus, who expressed concern about Prawdzik’s mental state because of the charges and his apparent job loss, set his bond at 10 percent of $50,000 after Prawdzik assured her he would be okay.

A woman who works at the bank discovered a hidden camera in the cardboard portion of the toilet paper roll when she went into the bathroom Thursday afternoon, according to court records.

She took the camera out of the room and showed it to co-workers, and Prawdzik allegedly took the camera from the employee, according to court records.

Prawdzik allegedly “became quite distressed and threw the camera in the toilet,” and allegedly later admitted to employees that he had placed the camera in the bathroom, according to the affidavit in support of the criminal complaint.  Prawdzik allegedly destroyed the camera and the memory card, according to the affidavit.

After being read his rights by police, Prawdzik allegedly admitted to police that he put the camera in the bathroom “to capture video of ‘his girls’ at the bank,” according to the affidavit.  He is alleged to have seen five female employees in the bathroom on more than one occasion.  Prawdzik left the bank after allegedly destroying the camera, and police later found and questioned him, Browne said.  Prawdzik allegedly told police that he had been videotaping for a few weeks the women while they were in the bathroom, Browne said.

Interesting.  A bank manager faces up to 14 years for putting one camera in an employee's only restroom for a couple of weeks, 14 days.  Yet our city managers of Ludington have knowingly had cameras in the Waterfront Park restrooms, hidden in the vents since 2001, 14 years, and refuse to take these offensive cameras out when their sordid perversion is uncovered.  The Ludington Police Department's Chief Mark Barnett (above) idly stands by, while his department remains able to monitor and capture images of people inside and outside of the stalls at these bathrooms in various stages of disrobing.  Pure Ludington Official above-the-law corruption.

This guy was just a pervert and nothing else. There were no security issues going on in the rest room as far as the article reports. Many acts are committed in the name of security, such as TSA agents X-raying people and cameras in the Ludington Beach rest rooms. These are all violations of our civil rights. People need to stand up and say NO to these violations.

How do we know there was no pervert action going on with City employees regarding those cameras? We don't so the only way for the City to clear itself is either by a lawsuit filed by citizens or having the cameras removed.

One only has to stand in the bathroom stall, and look up at the lens concealed in the vent to be able to say:  yes, this is against the law, and yes our city officials who allow this to be done are perverts.  As City Official Wallace Cain said minutes after I disclosed the problem, speaking on behalf of his fellow officials, this is how they think. Councilor Holman patted him on the back at the end of the meeting:

"Wallace Cain, 919 Mitchell Street, I would just like to, feel like I am compelled to rebut, Mr. Rotta.  Privacy vs. security is going to be a debate we have in this country for as long as the country exists.  As far as cameras in the bathroom, I support 'em.  I think it will cut down on vandalism, I think it will deter pedophiles, and it does say in the bathrooms, "surveillance camera in use".  I do not expect, there is no expectation of privacy in the bathrooms.  If you don't want to use them, you don't have to; it's your choice.  Thank you."

If only Wallace would take a step back and listen to what he's said..... "if you don't want to use them, you don't have to; it's your choice".... so if you are in a situation where you really need to use a bathroom and you happen to be at the beach you should just hold it instead? Makes much more sense to put the camera's outside, aimed at the door... that way no one's privacy is invaded.

Hopefully, Wallace takes a step back just after he's taken a dump at the Waterfront Park restroom.

Mr. Cain mouthed those words right about this time last year, with thousands of visiting tourists meandering throughout that area incapable of using anything but a public toilet when the need arose.  Is the man advocating for relieving oneself outdoors, which is a serious crime that can land you on the Registered Sex Offender list if you're caught, or was he proposing we all take a dump in our pants, if we do not enjoy people filming us while we are sitting on the loo?

I publicly invite Wallace Cain to post some selfies to the Ludington Torch from when he uses his toilet.  Please include before and after wiping shots for the prurient interests of our LPD guests that look in.

Funny: what's a sick crime by an individual citizen, is seen as a cure for crime if a public official does the same thing. Talk about twists on laws, sickening. Wallace Cain is nothing more than another cronie for the officials to draw on for sympathy and unapologetic behavior. Does he live in the 4th ward? If so, maybe he'll be chosen for the next city council member.

Poor Mr. Cain, he probably does have a camera hidden in his house to make sure that his guests are behaving themselves. In the name of security of course.
