Kudos to the fine people (even though they are, in some respect, assassins) who accomplished this feat, and a rare kudos to President Obama, who to his credit, did not squash this ongoing effort to rid the world of this heinous person, and gave a speech without his usual lackluster verbiage announcing this fact.

I'm not quite sure what to make of all this so far. I mean its great that they finally got him, there not many people on the planet that truly deserved to die but he was one of them. With that said though, is his death really that big of a victory now? Are there other targets out there these days that are higher value?

I'd be happy if they got rid of all the nasty scumbag terrorist... if only it were possible.

It is Dis/Mis -information to meet some end goal of the Gov't. He's either been dead for ten years or is still living on a beach in Rio. Or outlived his usefulness to our gov't.

Don't drink the kool-aid. lol

Doesn't make one bit if difference, some-one will come forward to take his place. This terrorist war against the U.S. will continue whether he is alive or dead.

The Weekly World News and The Star will now be able to showcase Osama-sightings and show pictures of dried fruit that looks like the former master of terror.

Lando does have a good point; with all the Osama impostors we've had through the years and the very low profile OBL has taken, what if this turns out not to be him?  Will the authorities admit it if it isn't him?  Is this a ruse to get the 'real' Osama to show himself?  We need The Donald's team of investigators once again I trust, LOL.

And of course the burial has already taken place at sea so Donald's team will have his work cut out for him.. lol
Dave with today's tec.   they can find where the ship was when the body was droped into the sea.
Let us understand something. Obama does not get any credit for this. He is clueless.  To begin assuming that he is part of a 10 year plan to find this Terrorist is insane by any standard.  Second, this country spends hundreds of millions of dollars per year on liberal based dead issues to buy votes.  Finding this man, killing him, and bringing the criminal to his final judgement has no dollar value.  Ask the families, of the victims of 9/11.   To call our nations finest men and women, who serve and protect Assassins, is as disloyal and unpatriotic as a terrorist.  It intrigues me how men and women who never put their life on the line, or even served in the military to protect this nation and the citizens within, have even the vague idea of sacrifice.  Usually, it is these types, (liberals) who run at the jaw, and still give nothing in return. The issue of Osama Bin Laden is international, and not only Our Nation. It is a victory and celebration for the world, yet we have much more to do. We have many more terrorist cells to negotiate and bring down.  People should be wiser when they speak of our nation. Well, if they have any true sense of patriotism.

Christopher,

The world is a much better place without UBL and the Navy Seals who performed this act are among the bravest and best people our nation has to offer.  Their mission was to capture or kill Bin Laden, and they are trained in the difficult task of killing others.  When Osama resisted capture, he was killed.

An assassination takes place when someone kills a famous or important person, usually for political reasons.  Few Americans would argue that this killing was not justified, but it was an assassination.  If you object to my use of the term 'assassin' previously, just note that I did not use it with any negative connotation.  Unlike your inferences.

Anyone here a hunter, trapper, or fishermen? Or maybe you worked for years to get that special promotion, and you either got it, or you passed it by? So far, from all the news I got, there is still alot of intrigue and questions left to answer. For instance, why does anyone/any country spend countless $Billions and years of search to confront/kill a prize animal, or in this case, a wanted international fugitive, to just off him and bury him at sea in the same few hours after capture? We did not do that with Hitler, nor with other Nazi criminals, dead or alive. We didn't do that with Dillinger either, nor Manson. Why now? Why this Bid Laden? How is it they had DNA in a Navy Seal team to match the victims DNA? Was it kept with them for years? Doesn't it have to be frozen beforehand? Why did Obama suddenly have authority to give the permission to get the job done and capture this hut/fort/mansion in Pakistan, when Seals report directly to superiors in the Navy? Personally, I think this is too convenient a story that's been put-up for the public right now. Too many questions/facts given don't make sense. Where's all the pics. and photo ops of the capture/killing? Don't tell me the public hasn't seen this before either. We saw Kennedy's death, and autopsy on film. We saw Hitlers bunker and remains from suicide. Same with Bonnie and Clyde and Dillinnger way way back. Same with Hussein and Columbian cartel gangsters. Why the sudden change now? I just don't believe all the facts here are true, or that someone needs a big boost to make reelection next year, and we all know who that is. Maybe it's too early and more information will be forthcoming, but until then, this is some sort of cover story that I can't buy into 100% yet.
After talking with a couple Army brat friends last night I learned that the President does give the go ahead for special covert actions/attacks, so yes, Obama did give the go ahead, and did a 180 degree turn on his own speeches of last week for civility and actions w/o violence etc.. As for the DNA, I guess that's on a placquard or card of some sort, so that's possible too. But, as for the actual display of the man, yeah, I know, it's going to be gross, so don't look if you can't take the heat, but I'd like to see the pics. and any videos that were made during/after the incident. These cartoon type animations aren't what I am looking for at all. I guess they are deciding whether to release them based on the Muslims using it as a desktop or display of abuse by the USA. Either way, I'm glad the monster is finally gone, and that he won't be leading any more escapades against us. But, the rest of Alqueda also has to be eliminated. And I don't like Obama taking credit for using our forces in harms way when it's a boom to his mandate for reelection purposes. He's been against the defense dept. on record for years in all his previous speeches. In closing, some of these USA special forces have been referred to as assassins in the past, there is nothing wrong with that term when used for the purposes of such a manhunt as this was. They did their duty, like the term or not, and I am proud of their actions, and fully support such covert actions when no other option exists.

I am just a bit disquieted about the reactions that many people have shown at this announcement.  Besides just being relieved at the news of Osama's death with no friendly casualties, and the pride in the brave actions of their countrymen in achieving this devil's death, many people celebrated like the proverbial muslim in the street during 9-11.

Perhaps, rather than celebrating his death, we should be mourning his life.  This is what I think a good Christian should aspire to do.  What he did in his life, should sadden and disturb us.  Our gladness at the justice of his punishment should be tempered by a sadness that such a punishment is needed-- that a man could do things that deserved such punishment.
