Superbowl XLVIII Predictions: Seattle Seahawks vs. Denver Broncos

A 2005 episode of "The Simpson's"  ("Bonfire of the Manatees") has our first prediction for this Sunday's Superbowl.  This undoctored clip from that episode has the Denver Broncos beating the Seattle Seahawks 19-14.

Can you get a better prediction of the final score?  Even if you think Seattle's team is the Supersonics or that Denver's best team is the Colorado Avalanche you should be able to take a guess at what the final score will be this Sunday.  The Ludington Torch has developed a system to figure out who gets closest (but we'll forgo the extra stats), if nobody gets the final result right on the head.

All you need to do is supply a score involving two numbers capable of being scored in a football game-- no 1-1 tie-finishes please-- and the victor's names.  You may add any rationale or other predictions afterwards.  Please feel free to share your favorite commercial(s) after the game right here in this thread.  I'll start it out with Seattle 26, Denver 24.

Denver 28 - Seattle 24

Hmm... tough one to call, #1 offense going against the #1 defense... it will either be really close or a blow out... I think I'm going to go with Denver winning the game, 35-17

While I'd like to see Peyton win one more before retirement......Seattle Seahawks are the team I'm going to root for. Seattle beat SF who beat the Packers, my team. Anyhow, my hope and end prediction is for this score: Seahawks 31 -  Denver 27. Either way, it should be a real good game.

I don't care who wins but I'd like to see Peyton win one more before he retires... if Seattle is the real deal, they'll be back and will probably win one or two of these in the next few years anyway so let Peyton nab his last one and they will get there's next year or soon after.

Aquaman, you won the day in your prediction, being the only one beside myself to pick Seattle and getting closer than me.  Congrats.  Seattle 43-8 final score.

The Seahawks are up 22-0 at halftime, but it's not over yet.  It leads me, however, to believe the maxim I used for picking Seattle:  when the #1 offense goes up against the #1 defense, it is usually the defense that wins the day.

Definitely not the game a majority of people were expecting... I figured it would go either way and more likely be closer then a blowout (even though I predicted a bit of a blowout here)... for it to be 36-0 now is almost unbelievable... guess I'm just glad it wasn't the Lions making it finally to the big game and getting blown out... lol

What's my prize in the contest? Even though it was a big blowout, and total surprise to most spectators, I still believe it was a great game to watch. Lots of action, esp. that 87 yard return at the start of the third quarter.

The prize is a Super Bucket of Chicken when you get back to celebrate those other birds, the seahawks.  Though horsemeat might be more appropriate.
