Here's a surprising story out of Idaho-- but it's not really. Many of our enlightened intellectuals applauded Target Stores when they decided to allow transgender customers and staff to use the bathroom/changing room that most closely corresponds with their gender identity.
“We stand for equality and equity, and strive to make our guests and team members feel accepted, respected and welcomed in our stores and workplaces every day,” Target stated in a press release in April. “We believe that everyone — every team member, every guest, and every community — deserves to be protected from discrimination, and treated equally.”
Despite the threats of boycotts of the store by traditional and sensible groups worried about such odd policy, the CEO of Target shortly thereafter noted that the Policy Hasn't Hurt Sales. Maybe that's the case, but that's before Sean "Shauna" Smith went into an Idaho Target's dressing room appropriately dressed like a woman, and then began surreptitiously recording young girls. He has been arrested under voyeurism statutes of Idaho, the story appears after his/her mugshot.
Are the intellectuals at the head of Target going to let their policy so easily be thwarted by authorities? Sean/Shauna has the right to enter the dressing room of the gender he identifies with, he also has the right to use his cell phone/camera in the store, so why should it be illegal? Maybe because his rights are just like everyone else's, defined by his duties to respect the rights of others, which includes privacy? Stay tuned for the bizarre defense to be used for this case.
IDAHO FALLS — A transgender woman accused of videotaping an 18-year-old in a Target fitting room admitted to detectives that she had made videos in the past of women undressing, according to court documents obtained by EastIdahoNews.com.
Shauna Smith, a transgender woman, is being charged as Sean Smith with one felony count of video voyeurism after the alleged incident Monday.
An affidavit of probable cause states the 18-year-old woman was trying on swimwear at the Target on 25th East when someone in an adjacent fitting room held an iPhone over the top of the barrier and began taking photos or video recording.
“The victim’s mother confronted the suspect, who immediately fled on foot. Both (the victim and victim’s mother) described the suspect as a white male who was wearing a dress and a blonde wig. A witness observed the suspect get into a vehicle and leave the area,” court documents state.
Bonneville County detectives learned the vehicle was registered to Smith. When an investigator arrived at Smith’s home, documents state “the defendant’s roommate told (the investigator) her roommate is a transgender male who identifies as a female, Shauna Smith.”
The detective showed the roommate surveillance still photos of the suspect from Target and the roommate identified the suspect’s clothing as that of Smith’s, according to documents.
Deputies interviewed Smith and “the defendant eventually admitted to me that she had made videos in the past of women undressing. The defendant told (the detective) that she makes these videos for the ‘same reason men go online to look at pornography,'” documents state.
According to the affidavit, Smith told the detective “she finds the video sexually gratifying” and when the deputy looked at the camera roll on Smith’s iPhone, he “observed a video of a young adult female undressing in a changing room at what appear to be Target. The defendant admitted to me that this video was recorded at Target.” Read the Affidavit here
Smith is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Bonneville County and was booked as a male into the Bonneville County Jail on a $30,000 bond.

I'm sure that if this goes to court, the defendant will most likely get the support of the ACLU and I can see this going all the way to the Supreme Court. Since Transgenders are now protected under the law. Women who are offended by a male claiming to be female who is watching them disrobe would seem to have no right to privacy.
Last I knew, Idaho was a fairly realistic and conservative state. Unless Idaho Falls is a big city, I think this transgender is going to stay in jail for a while. He's a pervert, not a real transgender imho. Target is just another box store, not a jury. Plus how many attorneys want this case? NONE! He's probably going to get an appointed attorney and get some lousy plea deal.
The local ACLU may get involved and try to make an issue out of it, but I don't see this incident becoming the showcase battle for transgender rights because of the actions and admissions of Shauna/Sean. His intent was admittedly prurient; just because he's an Idaho transgender doesn't mean he won't put his potato in the proper hole.
I am sure that the majority of transgender people are not perverts which this guy is wether he clams transgender or not. Going into any room for the purpose of video recording someone without their knowledge should be thrown in jail.
Good summation stump. Plus, this transgender society is about 3/10's of 1% of this population. Gosh, the way Obama talks about it, you'd think we had 25% of the public this gender. Smart Political diversion for Dems:, keeps us from thinking about the needless and win-less wars for 15 years, economical ruins, full blown deficits beyond imagination, Highest unemployment recorded/unrecorded, racial unrest dating to the 1960's, 2nd amendment attacks beyond belief, covering Hills Butt, and lying to the public about the rest of this failed Prez..
