Came across this site a few days ago, thought it was kind of interesting. You can basically track where any ship is at and at what rate of speed its moving. It tracks a variety of different types of ships/boats out on the water including the Badger. It follows traffic from most anywhere, if you want to look at what's on Lake Michigan, simply click in the appropriate area and you'll see what's going on.

Enjoy!

Here is what you'll see if you take a look.

Cool website; thanks for sharing.

Normally I'd probably wouldn't get into a site like this but just something cool about it. In tinkering around with it a bit more after I got home tonight, if you click on a ship icon, it will show you a brief description of the vessel and a picture. You can also have it show you what the plot of the ship is and how fast its going.

I noticed that when I checked it out; I clicked on the tugboat that's docked in Ludington at the Oxychem plant, the SS Badger, and checked up the St. Lawrence Seaway to view the freighters, etc.

Interesting, was looking at the radar tonight and noticed one of the ships up on Lake Superior is the Arthur M. Anderson. Why is that of interest? Think back to November 10th, 1975 and the horrific storm that took place up on Lake Superior and you'll probably recall what was most infamous of that night, the sinking of the freighter, Edmund Fitzgerald. Where the Arthur M. Anderson comes into play is that it was the last ship to be in contact with the Fitzgerald and was also the first ship on scene in a vain attempt to search for survivors. I didn't realize the Anderson was still in service although I'm not overly surprised either... one thing that can be said about a lot of the ships that were produced over the years is that they were built to last, and last is exactly what the Arthur M Anderson has done.

The Anderson should be slipping by Ludington anytime on its cruise down to Gary.

Wonderful link Dave
