Former congressman Anthony Weiner continues to fade in the New York mayoral race, according to a new poll by the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

The new poll released Tuesday — four weeks before the mayoral primaries — shows Public Advocate Bill de Blasio leading with 30% of likely voters with City Council Speaker Christine Quinn taking 24% and former comptroller William Thompson at 22%. Weiner has fallen to 10%, down from 16% in the same poll two weeks ago.

In mid-July, Weiner led in the Quinnipiac poll, but his support collapsed after he acknowledged that he had continued sending lewd messages to women online even after he had quit Congress over a sexting scandal.

Weiner has also lost significant support among black voters, who provided his biggest block of support in the wake of the revelations. In a poll at the end of July, Weiner still had the support of 24% of black voters. In Monday's poll, only 8% of black voters backed Weiner. Quinnipiac's new poll shows 39% of black voters now support Thompson, who is the only African-American candidate in the race.
