You may have heard of the deaths this year of Bob Uecker and David Lynch, two eccentrics of the sportscasting and director fields, but this last week hit closer to home, we lost a longtime contributor to the Ludington Torch who first joined us back in 2014: Shinblind.
In his ten years of contributions, Shinblind was one of our most perceptive local commentators. If he wasn't the first person to coin the phrase "West End Slab" to accurately describe what was sold to us as the West End Project by city officials, he helped greatly in popularizing it as such. The flaming snake of his avatar used on this site, warned us that his posts and commentaries would be biting and coming in hot, if not slightly poisonous to bad acting local officials, a frequent target.
Shinblind had posts on a variety of topics: the splash pad controversy, DEI and CRT in our schools, the COVID plandemic, and commented well over 800 times on the Ludington Torch. Beyond that, Shinblind had brought several topics to the attention of our editors here. One could tell that he was a supporter of this non-corporate, alternative local news and commentary site and had many of the same views and observations that has found itself onto these pages.
We salute Shinblind while commiserating with his grieving family and friends and wish him all the rewards that the afterlife has to offer. Thanks for all the memories.

He was definitely a wry wit and one of the few outspoken critics of John Shay.
