A big deal was made all week about closing all but two lanes to fix a broken pipe under Ludington Ave. (between James and Rath) . So when do the start ...? About noon on Friday and are apparently taking the weekend off as nobody has worked on it today. Just put in a half day and leave a big hole in the street all weekend......... good work when you can get it......

The Ludington DPW is a bloated organization that seriously needs to give out some pink slips, or actually do their jobs. The city annually spends $200K on wages and fringe benefits for this group, and IMHO, this is more than $100K of what they deserve from what I have witnessed.

You'd think they would want to save money and put that toward doing snow removal when its crappy out instead of taking their own sweet time fixing holes/pipes.

What aggravates the efficiency of the operation is that you have to coordinate the efforts of the City utillity maintenance workers and the MI Dept. of Transportation, due to its location. Still, it doesn't seem like a stretch to expect a days work for the correction of this problem, or at least two consecutive days.
Aq, the Ludington Torch does not advocate flying planes through downtown Ludington, though we see some merits in Tom Torquema's proposed system of Venetian canals between Rowe and William Streets.
