Two More Missing Children in the Ludington Area

As per the Chicago Tribune: 

LUDINGTON, Mich.— Authorities in West Michigan say they're looking for two young children whose father failed to drop them off with their mother as planned.

The Mason County sheriff's department said Friday that 4-year-old Douglas McCallum and 2-year-old Shelby McCallum were last known to be with 52-year-old Mark McCallum on Wednesday. The department reports they're investigating it as a parental kidnapping.

The department says both parents live in the Ludington area and there was a shared custody arrangement. They were to be dropped off Thursday.

Authorities are looking for either a dark green 1995 Dodge pickup truck with a Michigan license plate "DALE12" or a dark blue 2005 Chevrolet Malibu with a Michigan license plate "1CDX85." Officials say Mark McCallum has family ties in the Grand Rapids area and in Arizona.

 

A series of signs in front of Mr. McCallums house, could have a reasonable person questioning his sanity.  Ten signs in order in front of his house proclaiming:  1) Parole Board, Protective services 2) Parole Officer, (their name) 3) (warden's name), Warden  4) Prison guard (their name)  5) Executioner (name)  6)  (name) Catholic Saint's Tribunal Prison  7)  Prison Pawns (a name)  8) Mark McCallum, convicted felon  9)  24 hour confession-- (a name) only 10) a standard "No trespassing sign.

Local sheriff's officers and Hamlin zoning officials have mentioned that they have been to McCallum's residence on numerous occasions about zoning issues.  What is not known is whether these contacts are what may have set him over the edge.  Keep praying for the safety of the children.

I wouldn't fault the woman for her semantics and whether she uses 'my', 'the', 'our', or 'his' when referring to the kids.  She's likely worried sick about their welfare and not too worried about looking more possessive about her kids.  Hopefully, the MCSO will conduct a better investigation than the LPD has done for Baby Kate.

I saw this come across the Tribune when it was fresh.  My gut feeling is that the kids are alright, and that Mr. McC will elude the authorities for awhile but will someday be found in a remote area of Canada.  I agree that the system there in Mason county had a part in the genesis of this act.  Again a gut feeling.

News Flash: apparently, the father and two unhurt/safe children were just found in Key West, Fl., a well known haven for runaways/fugitives/etc.. The father will be charged with kidnapping, and the children are alright, soon to all be returning home/extradited is what I just heard.

Here's a KICKER: this Marlin Motel in KW was a fav. of the couple before the break-up, and the wife suspected this and several other locales, which she told the MCSD of. They just followed the most suspicious leads and guess what? Gotcha!
