Correctional Officers In Need of Correction: April 2010

Being a correctional officer is a tough, often thankless job.  Good correctional officers rarely get the recognition of achievement that others who excel in their job, just the grief of having to deal with a bunch of dangerous felons who could seriously injure or kill them if given the opportunity.  For those who go through their career in a professional, accountable manner, we salute you.

 

Lately, we have been discussing the grievance of an inmate at the Oaks Correctional Facility up north.  I personally know a former CO from that facility who I believe is beyond reproach, he has even hinted at a 'bad situation' leading to his decision to leave there.  I have sent an even-handed letter to that facility about the prisoner's grievance and have received no response over the last month. 

 

Lately, we have had a new member join who is solidly behind the CO charged with ethical lapses by the inmate, who he has yet to attribute any rights to.  This member has claimed to be a CO himself, and he feels the inmate is lying, and the CO involved is an upstanding CO.  He may very well be right.  The certainty of this member in the innocence of the CO, had me asking why.

Justin Ryan Tankersley, 23, a correctional officer at the Walton Correctional Institution, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance after an officer found one Xanax pill and seven Valium pills in a Dodge truck, according to a report from the DeFuniak Springs Police Department.

An off-duty Westminster police detective was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping a woman at Ontario Mills Mall and raping her at gunpoint, police said Monday.

A corrections officer from the Chino Institution for Men, who was also arrested in connection with the incident, has been booked on suspicion of carjacking and is being held as an accessory to the crime.

  In Rensselaer County a corrections officer is under arrest for allegedly threatening someone with a gun.

North Greenbush police arrested 53-year-old Anthony Holston, he's charged with assault and menacing. Police say he assaulted his victim, then allegedly pointed a loaded gun at them.

Schenectady Corrections Officer Arrested

SCHENECTADY—Yet another employee of the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office is on the other side of the law.

Corrections officer Ross Lackey,27, has been arrested by Niskayuna police after a woman filed a complaint against him for allegedly striking her, putting her in a strangle hold and taking her cell phone to prevent her from calling for help.

Lackey has been charged with two counts of second degree harassment, a violation; and second degree unlawful imprisonment.

Disarm, whom do you think you are kidding now? I've witnessed your same attitude and behaviors in defense of LEO's/courts on a continuing basis over at LT for well over a year now. You & Blinkey started with X on the bicycle ticket, then you stomped on me because I questioned tasering, Masonco over plowing, now you are stomping on snide for the parking issues downtown, just to name a few off the top of my head, and the list goes on sir. Don't be pro LEO just for the sake of standing up for family/friends, do it because it's right and you know the person accused is right, that's all anyone here has asked. To keep defending the samo issues of "LEO's are always right and above the law", well, it's just not true, and it makes you a pawn in that game of disgusting politics gone wrong. Snide is not very happy with you right now, in fact, if you know him, better stay way clear. As for me, I'm a congenial easy going type that just wants some justice and truth to prevail these days, given the atmosphere of total deceit wherever you look almost. Fair and honest debate over ideas and happenings don't have to come with insult, inuendo, name calling, and juvenile behavior. Disarm, the whole story to your participation on all threads seems to center on LEO's/courts/judicial system, and that they are never wrong. Your lack of participation on other interesting threads and groups as such duly notes this as your single passion. As for insults, you two boys, you and snide, are making quite the fools of yourselves on LT tonite. I tried to offer an olive branch of distraction twice, you both ignored it like it didn't exist. Why? Cause you like to intimidate and bicker. I just like lively debate in a polite and informed text. I also offered Stan an olive branch here or on the other thread a few days ago about the terrorist color chart of preparedness W. issued a few years ago. That also was ignored by Stan, to make room for continued insults. If you love Stan so much, start your own LEO ning network together, see how many join, and how you all agree, to agree, and agree again, never agreeing to disagree. If you took the time to listen to my pages music you might see I too have been a fan of LEO's, when they were a decent and well-meaning lot of men, out for real justice and truth, nothing like the warped LEO of today. I liked you better before you changed back to your old medicines of 6 months ago, at least you had some humor, that's vanished now again, for the sake of what? In closing I just ask, what kind of man upsets another man calling him out to fight, asking for the name of his downtown store, in a lurking manner saying you want to kick his axx, i.e., then say "if he touches you you're going to prosecute him to the fullest". Masonco was fairly certain of Stan's identity and past abuse from him. She explained her reaction and reason for closing the original thread to me in a personal message to me, which pre-empted my question about it. I agree with you, she did start in at him, when she confirmed her suspicions. If she jumped to conclusions wrongly, she may have been in error, and I may have been in error in supporting her.
Aquaman, Masonco, and I are fairly certain in the identity we have assigned to the "stansayhi" character. He was not banned for his viewpoint, it was for the way he conducted himself previously and after he was warned to keep on issue. This won't assuage everyone, but make your own conclusions from his rhetoric.

Quite right X, and if Dis was acting himself of late, he would see this clearly as what it is, here in a public forum, and in the outside world of LEO's, to wit: "conduct unbecoming an officer". That's why Stan is, I think, no longer a LEO, a wanna be that couldn't hold his temper and tongue, until the chief/co had to let him go. Sameo follows suit wherever he goes too. Alot of twisting and spinning does culprits no good, we see right through ya's.

Without going back and re-reading everything again, because that gave me enough of a headache last night, I will state that stan and barry both, seemed to disagree only for the ability to be contrary. That is a general idea I was getting from them before any of the argueing even started. esp. barry, seems a few weeks back he was just being so annoying in some thread that I was like shut up!

I mean, I bet me and AQ and X don't see i 2 i on everything (lbgt for one) but that doesn't mean we can't try to convince each other we are right if only in opinion without being annoying for other readers.

That basically was what I was getting from Stan and Barry, that they were only antagonizing and not contributing. I'm fine with people disagreeing but when it gets to the point when your not really contributing then whats the use of even being in the conversation. In other words, if you have nothing to contribute to the conversation.. either that supports your opinion or backs you up why you don't agree.. then your better off not being part of the conversation.

I'd be happy to let Stan come back and be a part of this forum as long as he is willing to be part of a given conversation. He doesn't have to agree with me or anyone else, but shouldn't have to resort to posting fluff that does nothing for the conversation either. Of course its not up to me to let anyone back in here, its X's decision.

prolly wouldn't feel real welcome if that were the case, but nobody but me can have real pic of me so that makes it easy to know it really is me, plus by using my real name it makes me shut up when i do feel like saying something that i wouldn't say in face to face convo. it's like a restrictor plate for the typing hands..
